1/30 HMS Royal Caroline Build

WIP--
Hello everyone, everywhere. I got a little time over Christmas to work on the Interior of the Day Cabin. I added a Lantern that hangs over the Table with a soft Blueish Light to give the interior a little more depth with some more light. I milled out a channel on the top off the beam & ran the wire. I am goin to call the interior good because so much of it isn't seen with the naked eye. Next step I plan on doing is laying the Deck Planks onto the Cabins Roof Top & then Tree Nailing the Planks and then attaching the Roof. More to come........

Hello everyone. Just a quick update on my progress. I had to cut out some of the Top Deck to fit properly & match up to the Rear Bulk Heads and the walls. The kits pre shaped Deck Top DOES NOT match up properly!!!!! I marked out & pre-drilled the Deck Plank Plugs while I have the Deck House Top Off to make life much easier on myself. I will finish the Port & Starboard Deck Planks after I install the Plugs & mount the Roof Top because the remaining Planks require Fitting & Shaping after attaching the Roof Top to fit the Port & Starboard Bulwark Walls correctly. More to come......................

I love the idea with the maps on top of the table - Do you know the island they are looking for?
Well, since I keep imagining being the captain of the real ship, I think I'm going to sail her to the Bahamas and retire and just lay on the beach of a uninhabited island there with a cool drink in one hand and a bodacious babe in the other hand!!! Heck, I might even bring my wife along, Hehehehehehe Hehehehehehe

My dear friend
you are doing an amazing job, when I look at your work both on the structure of the ship and all the miniature details, I can imagine more easily what the life of a crew member or officer on a ship was like.
There is no doubt that you create a masterpiece Exclamation-MarkOkay:)

Thank you for the kind words my friend. The kit itself has a outstanding base to work with and improvements being made as I progress. Having a lot of fun on this project.

Hello Everyone. It has been slow going due to my hectic work schedule and apologize for the upload delays. The day Cabins Rooftop has ended up being more work & time consuming then I thought it was going to be. I am going to do the companionway top Rails & Entrance Doors differently then what the kit instructions show. I am going to do the companionway top sliding & entrance Doors more of the traditional way for the time period. I am using 5mm X 5mm Ramin that I milled out for the Top companionway Rails to slide on. I will also be installing 2 swinging companionway hinged doors. The kit DOESN'T PROVIDE any type of companionway entrance door(s) other then the Sliding top one! I am still working on all of the doors & nothing is attached or glued down in the pics at this time.
I also milled out the 3mm X 3mm kit provided wood that is used for the outer edging of the Deckhouse to make a more realistic Rain/Water runoff Edging Seal.
The last picture I attached shows the appropriate set up for the companionway on a Beautiful Royal Caroline build I had followed.

Hello Everyone. Got a little time the last two days to get some work done on the Royal Caroline. I was not real happy with how the rear Deck House Rain/Water runoff Edging Seal trim was fitting along the Aft backside of the cabin (a 2mm gap from top of wall to bottom roof edge). The kits pre cut Roof Top was not cut accurately to say the lease, ugh!!!! So, I decided to trim off approx 3mm of the existing Deck Planks & redo in order to have a better fitting Aft Edging Seal.
I also installed the Brass strips that go on the bottom edge of each side rail plate for the Top Hatch and filed out the 2 Scuppers on the bottom of each Rail. I got all 4 openings cut out for the Door Hinges and the 2 Door Decorative mouldings completed. The Top Hatch is completed with bracing & grab handle.
Next Step----Touching Up the Red Paint and onto the Cabins Rooftop Edging..........................

Deckhouse planking & Trim work completed at last. I still need to install the 4 working Hinges & Door Handle Ring Bolts on the 2 Swinging Cabin doors. I will go back at a later time and do a Final paint Touchup on all the Gold Trim & other colors as needed.
Onwards...........................................................
