Onto the next order of business..................................................
Like our fellow modeler Maarten, I am in the process of replacing all of the kits 8 cannon barrels. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the kits Canons. For one thing, they are not period correct and every one of the eight are visibly warped!!!! One would think that based on the kits cost & the Cannons being one of the more visual eye grabbers, the kit manufacture could have supplied much better Canons!!!!!
I purchased the Brass Barrels from Cornwall Model Boats Ltd out of England and I purchased the Monograms from Syren Ship Model Company.
More on this coming soon.........................................................................................

Big difference with the cannon Rick, the new one's look much better, did you have to modify the carriages much,
Best regards John,

Hello John,
Actually very little modification was needed other than taking a rounded file and enlarging the front cradle a little deeper so as to let the barrel move up or down more.

Could you share the cannon size and maker, I will probably end up doing the same,
Best regards John,

Thank you Rick, for the info, I've got my cannon all assembled so I've got to see if I can get the barrels off with little damage, will see what happens, thanks again,
Best regards John,

Hello everyone. Been slow going on the revamped 4lbs Cannons due to my hectic work schedule and this time of the year with all the Holidays. Got all the barrels blackened & monograms attached & barrels reattached to the carriages. I also made Flash Pan Covers & installed. I also made Bore Plugs but will install at a later time. Next step I will be doing is making the Breeching Line & attachin g to the Ring Bolts using 2mm cordage.
More to come..............................................................................

What do you get when you mix the most commercially available detailed kit in the world and one of the most experienced shipbuilders on the forum? Answer: The magnificent Royal Caroline that we all have the pleasure to view on these pages!

Just beautiful, my friend. I had a lot catching-up to do but every minute of it was more than worthwhile.

I can only agree with Heinrich. Fantastic build Guns with every detail correct, as a UK-rigged gun

fantastic build deck with its capstain , water pumps and many more details

These guns a very good - all necessary details included - very good work
I recognized the eyelets which are wood-screws - it will be not possible to drill them into the bukheads, so you have to predrill the hole with the outrer diamtere of the screws
