Next are the "schaarstokken" which are a deck reinforcement enclosing the coamings.
This is what Van Yk writes about them for the Orlop deck.
The "schaarstokken" are equal in thickness to the waterways. In two rows they are running over the lenght of the deck at the width of the coamings parallel to each other. The schaarstokken are equally to the waterways countersunk into the deckbeams for half their thickness.
On both sides of the schaarstokken there is a slot to take the deckplanking except there were the coamings are situated.
As the coamings in the orlop deck are different in size the schaarstokken are also at different distances from each other along the length of the deck. Widest at the main coaming and closer to each other at the fwd and aft coamings.
The main coaming is 7 x 7 ft which means the schaarstokken around the main coaming are 7 ft from each other.
At the spot of the coaming there is no slot in the schaarstok as you can see below. Secondly I made them different in width, you can see this also on the ones onboard Vasa. This as they were made as wide as possible from the wood used for them.
The schaarstokken aft of the deck are much closer to each other as there is only a small hatch coaming of 2.5 ft.
Again fwd slightly wider for a hatch of 4 ft.
Next time milling the beams and schaarstokken to countersink them into the beams.
