The sliding doors do function. Workers decided to cut four more additional frames to create another "window" so the details in this area can be seen.

Everything is dry fit, except the mortar storage rack.

Shipyard will be closed for a week, while workers fly to Reno, NV for a nephew's funeral. He had a heart attack on a backpack trip with his daughter. Pretty traumatic, as she did CPR for over an hour, till a helicopter arrived and EMTs pronounced him dead.

Live life well!
Want to LIKE your progress on the ship, but would not be appropriate in that context. As a hiker myself, I can imagine how traumatic that must have been. My heart goes out to the family.

Hello Brad, I just spent the last little bit going over your amazing build log. I believe you have mastered the retired modelers' perfect life, traveling all over our beautiful country with your admiral and your mobile shipyard. Your craftsmanship is up there with the best of them and am glad I finally came on board. Concerning your last post I too offer my condolences to your family.

Agreed. My condolences to your family, Brad.

I'm really sorry to hear about your family's loss - and how traumatic for that young lady.

Very nice work, Brad!

Nice work on the model! My condolences for your nephew and family.
Thanks to all who encourage me with gracious feedback on my little project.

More important were the kind thoughts and prayers for ny Nephew's young (he was only 55) family as they deal with this tragic loss.

I am very sorry for her loss Brad....

Keep up the nice work on Salamandre - shes a beauty.

Back from a wonderful memorial for great young man. His family is coping and will persevere.

Shipyard workers set up a production line for sliding windows and began milling the main deck beams. Photos below:

It's always amazing how tight the below deck level is!

Beam production.

In a few days I should be able to show the mandatory photo of the full beam set. with the camber steamed in:
