I have made the second version of the anchor fairleads. I think this option will be more suitable.

In original the lead was covering the wood and the hole in order to protect the anchor cable and the wood, but it was not a complete tube
Just last weekend I saw the first time in real the amazing La Salamandre in scale 1:24

I think, that you will get the best result with real lead foil with 0,3 or 0,5mm thickness

Thank you. But I don't want to use lead. As far as I know lead details corrode very ugly over time.
I have made a galley stove. I had to redo it again, because of the failure on blackening stage. The first option had to be rejected. The technology is simple, all the details are soldered.

I tried to cover it with oil. But the oil had highlighted some defects of the wood. I will probably have to replace some elements.
