Looking great Jan!View attachment 298820
Very strange little building this "Chicken Coop", I wonder what else was carried aboard to satisfy the passengers appetites.
Gluing metal requires CA glue. Sometimes you have to sand the area that is glued to help with adhesion.Bling, Bling, Bling.
There is a lot of "Bling", I've not worked with any of this etched Bass stuff. Is it coated with anything? What paint is used on it? How does it get glued on?

This looks like something I should get right the first time.

RO-OH, we've drifted into the WB explored ice pack. At least there will be lot of wood available to build winter over huts.Looking great Jan!
Wait…warn the passengers there is a giant polar bear approaching the ship!
Hi Dean, thanks for the help. Something new to learn. I suppose I can use the edges of the sheet to experiment with. Looks like a lot more painting and sanding, painting and sanding,Gluing metal requires CA glue. Sometimes you have to sand the area that is glued to help with adhesion.
Painting is the same…a light sand with fine grain sandpaper prior to adding a coat of primer. The paint should stick after that. Sometimes you can skip the primer if you sand. Test a piece first. Then handle it after the paint is dry to see if it chips off easily. Nothing more frustrating than your hard work being destroyed just from handling the piece…sigh! I have had the same issue with the cast pieces! Light sand, primer, paint, and even a matte clear coat to ensure they survive being handled!
Yes metal makes life a little more difficult than plastic or wood. Resin has to be prepared too.Hi Dean, thanks for the help. Something new to learn. I suppose I can use the edges of the sheet to experiment with. Looks like a lot more painting and sanding, painting and sanding,

I was thinking the same thing...Looking great Jan!

Good morning Jan. I really enjoy this build. You are doing a fantastic job. Passengers appetites .....they must have a small Bourbon distillery aboard somewhere...View attachment 298820

I think you might be right. On the Main deck behind the boiler at the Stern there is a closed off room with an "Authorized Personnel Only" sign.Good morning Jan. I really enjoy this build. Indeed, I'll have to experiment to see what combination works for me.Jan just follow Dean's advice, take your time and you will be fine!
I would turn it into a hot dog stand with a beer keg. Couple of high stools. Dart board on the side wall. There has to be a little humor involved with this ship modeling hobby. One thing seems to lead to another. This morning I was admiring my “kit bashing” of the Pilot house. I thought it was coming along quite well and since it will be one of the more visible parts of the model it should be more than a little building with a name tag.

The kit version is a closed in square box. there is a pot bellied stove casting included, but that’s it. Opening up the front has also opened Pandoras box, I now need a ships wheel, maybe a bench, a small wood box, a spittoon, a ??? OMG what have I done?
Great idea, since there a Chickens in the “Chicken Coup” adding a Grill and Micro Brewery would not be a bad idea. The casino on the Boiler deck could pass out complimentary vouchers for a quick mealI would turn it into a hot dog stand with a beer keg. Couple of high stools. Dart board on the side wall.
Close the front before anyone - especially the Admiral - notices!
Indeed, it’s like the little engine, “I think I can, I think I can,….”. So here I am, “I think I can …..”Pretty special Jan! This is what happens when we see what other builders are doing on their ships! Suddenly we're doing custom work. Love it!
