But these were mainly on the inside, so you won't see themAnd then you have the nails that served for the connecting pieces of wood that held the floor timbers together during the first phase of construction. Yes there are more holes in such a Dutchman than in an Emmenthaler cheese.
Sorry for pointing out and increasing your workloadHi Grant. I will try to correct it as much as possible. I have made a small sketch how it would look like and like the result. Maarten was right and it will be worth the extra effort. It will probably take about 1000 extra nails, each side. And will give the impression of an organised chaos.
No they went through, but where also re-used for the timbers. But these were mainly on the inside, so you won't see them![]()
You are right, Herman: Time heals everything! In theory, it’s just a number. In practice, your model comes alive.I will be working on it for years to come. So 2000 nails extra will not make much of a difference, timewise.
Thank you Brad. The letters will be a new challenge in miniature wood work. That nameplate banner really flows nicely. Can't wait to see the name appear!
Welcome back Tobias. Thank you for your kind words.Good morning, Herrmann, fantastic work. Your lion turned out really beautiful; your little carvings on the "speculoos" (spiced biscuits), banners, and the ornament on the spur are perfect.
I had a bit of catching up to do.
Thank you, much appreciated. It was a turbulent, sad start to the year.I'm so sorry for the loss of your father-in-law. My condolences.
A nice base for her name, Herman.I went further nailing on the starboard side under the wales. When that is completed I will add the extra nails as Maarten suggested.
However, the weather was fantastic today so it would have been a shame to stay in the hobby room and above that I wanted to do something different than sticking nails into the hull. Time to pick up something else in between.
This afternoon I made the nameplate that will adorn the stern. I copied the form onto a piece of wood, used the bandsaw to cut out the shape and spend the afternoon in the garden with this piece of wood and a some files.
The individual letters will be made later; too small to try to make them in the garden. For this I will need my lamp with magnifying glass.
