ENDURANCE (Occre kit)

Hi guys ...thank you for your comments and likes!!

Short follow up :

Yesterday i received the chains from amazon. I ordered 2 types of similar size (1mm and 1.1 mm diameter). They can't be blackened, also after washing them with several diferent solvents. So I spray painted them.

First I did 2 small samples and decided to use the smallest chain. Link below.

Here is the link for the one "I will NOT use", but just in case you are interested.

Both chains can be seen side by side in the images below.

I need to do a few things on the hull first and the i can continue working with the steering system.

See you back in a few days !!!
Cheers
Daniel

Looking at rails round the stern, Where did you find the brass section of the rails. What I did with mine was a patchwork of wire and very amatureage compared to yours. Really like it

I can see you are in England, correct ?

You can order the stanchions from Cornwall Model Boats:

Cornwall Model Boats - Static display and radio control model boat kits including period wooden model ships.Model Ship fittings, Caldercraft Boats https://share.google/nzdvVNDCkD6RN5q6M

I was able to find mines here in USA at Harbor Models. But are the same as the ones sell by Cornwall.

I have to cut them so the hand rail (top) ends around :-) the same level of the deck. (See image). It isn't perfect at all, but at least the visual effect is there.
On the first and second picture you can see what I cut from the stanchions. I will have to do the same to the 15mm as they are around 3 mm higher (kit are 12mm). Will see when the time comesif those 3mm extra looks horrible :-) or not.

The brass wire is 22g and fits perfectly through the stanchions holes.

First I passed the wire through the holes of all the stanchions. The stanchions positions (2 cm between each one) wood was market and the holes drilled. Then, each stanchion was placed on its hole carefully to avoid twisting the brass wire. After testing that the high was correct, i added a drop of superglue to each one. Also glued the ends of the wire and cut it flush.

The upper hand rail isn't included with the kit. It was cut using the kit included ones as templates.

I inferred the hand rail high based on the below image and drawing.

I hope this helps.

I am actually in Australia, so precurement for me is somewhat different to you (but not impossible)

Well thought out , planned and done ( PS I'm from Australia)
I took a look to your built and unless i am confused again :-) you used nice stanchions/brass wire for all the other sections and they looks great. So, my question, why you didn't adapted those to the stern section ?
