Gold Version of the Black Pearl - My First Build

Okay, I know this is out of order but the Lanterns were calling my name. I don’t like the fiddly collars the kit provides so I decided to fab some wood ones on my lathe. They will require some tweaking when it come times to mount them but I think they will work fine. Process is listed below

Started with a piece of Cocobolo.

a bit ? wow

Well, just opened the box tonight and inventoried everything, all seems to be in order. Removed the keel pieces and filed the edge profile on the first piece. I will try to keep track of build time in the log. I expect to be rather slow and cautious as this is my first ship build ever. I will also have tons of questions as the directions are not so great.

Build Time So Far = 30 Minutes

Hallo Larry alias @lmcneil1406
we wish you all the BEST and a Happy BIRTHDAY

Hey guys! I’m back. Sorry for the long hiatus, life does that sometimes. Change of plans as I have decided to build my ship without rigging or sails. Part of this is just because of my busy life. I just don’t know if I have the time or ambition to do the rigging, probably the latter. I have made some progress on the cannon ports and some topside gadgets. I worked on the fancy curved railing on the front of the ship. I have no idea what they are called but that was an exercise in patients. All together about the 98 hours so far. Spent about two hours on this little time sucker! Pounded out some copper wire to make the hinges. Still have to tie off the rope on the ship end but wanted to let the glue dry before that task. Nine more to go!! Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

Hi Larry. This looks rather good. Did you get my last note and my email address.?

Worked some more on the cannons. Still have some finish work to do on them but they’re coming along. Also worked on the ship decorations. Couldn’t fit the brass flourishes above the golden women so I improvised a bit. I tend to do that when it suits me. Sitting at about 110 hours so far.

Hy Lary. I do admire your nice workmanship. Did all those brass fitting came with your kit? because they look very smart.
