Grants Xebec 1:60 (using Jabeque Cazador Occre1:60 kit) [COMPLETED BUILD]

…. and so we are back to Paul’s rehab/therapy post and don’t forget he also said he has no fingerprints left from sanding ROTF

Now on a more serious note, I’m really enjoying you build, interpretation, adaptability and a few other complimentary words :).
I really like this Grant! Very innovative and decorative at the same time. ;)
Great work Grant, looking better and better all the time Thumbsup
I agree, well over 82% Grant! :)
Thanks Mark, Roger and Dean :D. Cheers Grant

Good morning. Apologies I got side tracked yesterday and forgot to send pic I promised.

The stern bulkwark is made in two parts - I have had to scratch build the entire stern. This is 8mm lower, 20mm longer and carries more aggressive curves than the Cazador. Excuse the wood filler and shade variations this is still WIP.

You will notice my fight with wood veneer continues another chip on the 3rd gun port. It’s ok I know how to fix these now:).

I bought some 8mm railings for the Heli deck.

Grant, Is there more than one of you? I thought your Victory masterpiece was fast-paced, but you are wearing me out...BTW, your work is incredible. :)
Terry
Good morning Terry. ROTF. Thank you for your compliment. I certainly would like those extra set of hands in this hobby, but I think a second Grant would annoy me…kick him out my shipyardROTF. I just wake up early each morning (not by design) so have about 4 hrs each morning play time in the shipyard before family wakes up. Thanks again. Cheers Grant

Dear Grant,

I have missed Your excellent work,it's turning out beautiful. Okay Thumbs-Up :)
I think only you can see these little mishaps Grant. It looks pretty much perfect to me (from all angles) :)
Grant, I have spent the morning catching up on your build. You my friend have really come into your own! Keep trusting your eye, your dimension changes are spot on. This is superb workmanship!
Good morning Bill, Mark and Shota. Thank you guys. I appreciate your compliments and stopping in to have a look see. Cheers Grant
That looks fantastic. Had to get a little creative. Tried to turn my PC to get a good look at your hull. Wound up turning your picture instead.

ROTF

Jan
Good morning Jan. ROTF….No zooming in allowedROTF. Thanks BTW. Cheers Grant

Good morning. Good old SA power cuts again this am and I did not charge my lights so I decided to spend time in the scratch build logs again. I thought my scratch built stern was cool….whaaa haaa. ROTF. Check this scratch build out from Andrey @Mr.Deep -

I saw that one too. Andrey said he didn't make it, but found it online and shared it with us. It is a beautiful piece of work.

Good morning. The stern (Heli deck) board/transom. I liked the shape of the Cazador kit however needed to remake this due to dimensions. (Lower, and more rectangular).

I used the Cazador cast decorations and tacked my wood onto this. Then sanded the shape. Not much wood left so have make a plan- used two pieces.

I wanted it angled at the same angle as the hull stern: Doing this by hand - I had my doubts if I would get this right! Confirmed!

Planked the inside with left over deck planking and the outer with Sapele veneer.

Result: I framed the “transom” with Sapele veneer. The boom support strake is walnut 3x3 and I scraped some patterns in for some fun. The railings are just plonked on for effect. Covered the unavoidable (well Grants sanding angle skills) gap with a 2x1 walnut cut from left over Victory plank.

I knew it- hand sanded angle was not spot on. I’m leaving this as it is still cool.

Photos….ROTFmy support looks screw. I will have to check this out. I did use a set square but could have move when clamped this….WIP.

Well thought out, well executed transom piece Grant. Not sure about that verticle piece, it does look off a little but its parallel with the planking and they look good??

It must be camera parallax. That's always my excuse.
