Grants Xebec 1:60 (using Jabeque Cazador Occre1:60 kit) [COMPLETED BUILD]

Great work on your Xebec, Grant!
What you're encountering in your build; redoes and overflowing swear jars, is inherent to modeling, especially if one decides to leave the trodden path. Stepping out of your comfort zone and overcoming the self-imposed challenges, design, plan, execute and evaluate, it all results in accumulating experience and in surprisingly beautiful models.

PS that heli deck does it! When will we see the big white circle with a white letter "H" sitting proudly in the middle?

Grant, that decking of yours is the best I have ever seen, never tire of looking at your pics.. Chapeau bas. Cheers JJ..
Thank you Jack. Much appreciated.
Grant, hi. A very worthy resultThumbsup. Did you manage the railings ;)
Good morning Sasha. Thank you. I managed them….only just.
It's time to stop complaining and start celebrating this grant achievement. Thumbs-Up
Good morning Peter. Moan, groan and cuss all the way to the finish line. ;)Thanks for the compliment, I am really happy how she has come out. :D.That’s it with my changes- from now on it is pretty much with the kit build other than remaking the ugly parts the kit provides and trying improve the accuracy of the rigging etc. I have your exceptional build to follow- thanks.
Dear Grant
magnificent dek, and the main deck rails looks great!! a result of excellent work, well done my friend
Good morning Shota. Thank you kindly.
Grant, you might see flaws. but what i see, are pictures of a work of art, this is becomming a beautiful Xebec
Good morning. Thank you- I sincerely appreciate this.
Way to work through a tough situation! Your results are beautiful. I can't get over the lines of this vessel. May have to add this to my list!
Thanks Bill. The Le Requin from ZHL is the Xebec to buy if you decide to build these sexy ships.
You're an overcomer Grant! With that result I'd say: mission accomplished!
Good morning Paul. Thanks- I think I should call myself Ethan Hunt - It felt like mission impossible at times. ROTF
Great outcome Grant, bending a luminant horizontally, WOW not easy but it looks awesome!
Thank you Daniel. Yep it was a silly idea but the only option I had. No 6x2 wood to remake these. I would not recommend this unless you are painting. I eventually fitted the cracked and lifted laminate and then with Ca glue and wood filler worked them into shape. Came out well after painting.
A nice addition that kept het lines flowing, Grant.
Regards, Peter
Thank you Peter.

Good Morning Johan. This is a true story. Thanks for the compliment.

It’s coming…ROTFROTF
….. and that is the reason a ship is a “she” :D.

Really great work Grant, what an impressive build!
Good morning Roger. Thank you.
You must have calibrated eyeballs, Grant. I can't see any issues that you describe.
Good morning Vic. I think I am the great cover up artist…wood filler etc makes those disappear ROTF .
Very precise in my opinion, impressive work. I love the green stripe it fits super well.
Good morning Tobias.Thank you. Coming from you I certainly appreciate it.

Cheers Grant

Good morning:

Blunder: While fettling I was cleaning and sizing the main and Mizzen mast deck holes. The masts didn’t fit.Redface. Short story when building the frame I switch the masts support bases - the Mizzen is at the main mast etc. A total clown moment ROTF. Result- main mast doesn’t fit and Mizzen wobbles all over the place.

….n Boer maak n plan…as we say in SA. Basically means we improvise to solve a problem. Project for another time.
Cheers Grant

That sounds so familiar! I sometimes wonder why I open myself to ridicule by posting my mistakes. Then I remember how much I've learned through observing others going through the same process.

Grant, friend, I don't see the problem at all. Make already part of the mast below deck. Moreover, it was so on the real ones.

Well, it's good at least you have some access to the one pictured.

Good evening Sasha. This I did not know. True story it is something easily resolved. Sometimes we just have to show our blunders as we go. You got my curiosity spiked so I’m going to do some researching on how the masts were fitted way back then. Thank you. Cheers Grant
