Grants Xebec 1:60 (using Jabeque Cazador Occre1:60 kit) [COMPLETED BUILD]

And there I was, reading "beer" (instead of bear) and I thought: "What a splendid idea"... Beer Beer
Good morning Johan. Yep was not a bad idea at all. I took your advise and had a bitterly cold castle after my Padel game :D .
Very nice upgrade on the little boat's framing Grant! I would say it was worth the effort (and the expenditure of the final scraps of walnut in SA).
Hi Paul. Thank you. She is pretty ugly right now however I have hope she will transform. Maybe not as sexy as the ships hull, but complimentary non the less .Ha ha resources……Hopefully my directors make some money for me and I get some dividends prior to my next build. ROTF. Tough here in SA at present. Need to spend a wack on wood, supplies etc. Cheers Grant

Good morning. Some more Ugly for you guys. I post as I go so hopefully one day something pretty rocks up;).

That are some very nice tiny repairs on that little boat of yours, Grant. :) Looks great, no re-do’s necessary. ;)
Regard, Peter

great progress my dear friend, I like very much the little boat :) Thumbsup

Working on the little boat are you? I think you achieving miracles with that little spare wood pieces that you have. The chip repair on the bow isn't noticable at all, and is a perfect fix. I believe it took me two months to build that boat the way I did it. You are going a lot faster en just as neat really impressive! Great work Grant.

Grant, nice micro construction skills!
Good afternoon Ken. Thanks. Building the inner planks and platforms has been a learning experience and one I am struggling with some. If I had plenty wood some redo’s would be in order however I do believe I can work this into something presentable. Cheers Grant

Good afternoon Peter. Thanks- I did not think I would get the repair as well as I did:oops:. Thankfully no redo’s as I am “woodless”ROTF
…although I would have liked to redo the bow platform planks…
great progress my dear friend, I like very much the little boat :) Thumbsup
Good after Shota. Thank you kindly. I am excited about your new ship going to be a fun scratch build.

Good afternoon Peter. Miracles are certainly needed here Peter;). I just didn’t like the kit design and don’t have wood to try the Le Requin type boat. Doing what I can and hopefully something reasonable and a fair reflection of a Xebec boat of the 1750 era is the result. Thanks for the compliment Peter. Cheers Grant.

Good afternoon
Family all deserted me today, Rugby over and none of my mates wanted to ride or play Padel……so 6hrs playing with my little boat:D

Rider and Thwarts.
Occre had 2 6x3 strakes which I cut into 3x1.5mm for the riders and 4x2mm for the Thwarts.

The rider was measured and 2x4 slots for each thwart where measured and cut:

These where glued onto bulkwarks:

The Thwarts are dry fitted as I still need to do some final cutting, angles, sanding and stern work.

The Twarts will be removed as I still need to work on the Stern second platform, seats and space for the helmsman before I insert them.
Cheers Grant

Wow, that's six hours we'll spend. Another six hours of eing deserted and left alone and we'll see a beautifully crafted boat...
I pays of when you are being deserted by your family. A couple of times and the whole ship will be finished... ROTF
Again great improvement work over the standard kit version, well done mate!
Good morning Peter and Johan. It was fun. Man this hobby steals our time- it certainly did not feel like 6hrs. Thanks for checking in on my little ship. Cheers Grant

Splendid Grant
Congrats Thumbs-Up

Good morning. Ships boat continues:

The side benches with a storage compartment beneath are in progress. These took a while as there are many angles and curves to get right to fit into position. The bench is a lid so extends out a tiny bit.

All the fittings dry fitted. My process is like a jigsaw puzzle. Build everything to see if it all works and if so glue it in. Still “ugly” but I’m happy with the progress. I will get this good.
Cheers Grant
