I know this small forrest Krzywy Las in Poland
There are 30 or 50 pine trees looking like this - when I remember correctly small christmas trees were cut just above the lowest branch - but it is still not 100% clear how this happened....

Very simply: 0.3 mm hole and 0.3 brass wire!
