Halifax Build Log: Lumberyard

THANKS AGAIN Dave, MAY GET THERE BEFORE THE 3-D is ready, the PLANKING and other stuff has to have the stern finished before I can do that, so may need your help on it, I think I have some idea of how to acomplish this, the FASION PIECE IS WHAT IS GIVING ME TROUBLE,,,,for now still working on the beams carlings and ledger beams, going fairly quickly so far. THANKS AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING DAVE. Don, PS CAN NOT FOREGET EV EITHER

looks like you are making progress nice job on building the decks.

I see you cut out the windows what it difficult to do? how did you do it?

is the section of the stern along the side that is giving you trouble?

Hi Dave, I cut out the windows VERY, VERY, VERY, carefully wit a NEW XACTO No. 11 blade and cleaned them up with MIN SANDING STICKS got from HOBBY LO once i see what you say, I think that part is aceptableBBY still have some cleaning up to do,,,, DAVE ACTUALLY THE WHOLE STERN AREA IS GIVING ME FITS, i think that the stern decoration piece is OK as long as I can paint it properly, hard at this age to do the small areas and do not know if I should cut it like yo showed or leave it the way I cut it, what do you think,,, the main problem is the FASHION PIECES AS THAT WILL GOVERN EVERYTHING ELSE ie, PLANKING, MOLDING ETC., so what do you think i think I will start painting the decorative piece AS it seems OK depending on what you say and installing that in place, NOW THE FASHION PIECES NEED YOUR OPION ON THOSE IF OK CAN PROCEDE. LOOKING FORWARD TO WHAT YOU SAY. Don

hum? well what I think is I do not quite know what exactly is the problem with the fashion timber I colored in the fashion timber pointed to by the red arrow. What you do is use a piece of planking and lay it along the hull, once you get to the back edge of the fashion timber you sand it down until the end of the hull plank rests on the wing transom. Let me check the archives and see if I can find a picture of shaping the fashion piece.

Dave the picture in Hahns book threw me off thinking that piece of molding was the fashion piece, the second on is how I see the planking run can bend the planks at the end

progress pictures showing planking , and deck details the dark piece of timber you see in one picture is how I plan to finish it that was one coat of MIN-WAX NATURAL STAIN plan to give it at least one more coat, the discolored and shiney pieces on the plaking is CA remants, hate to use that stuff but sometimes unavoidable will have to use 100% acotone nail polish remover to clean it up, as usual all crtisims accepted20180226_024945[2643].jpg20180226_024841[2644].jpg20180226_024746[2645].jpg20180226_024559[2646].jpg20180226_024442[2647].jpg20180226_023856[2649].jpg20180226_023322[2652].jpg20180226_022931[2653].jpg
