Hello Heinrich. I wish your admiral a speedy full recovery and that you stay free from infection.
Thank you very much Herman. It is sincerely appreciated, and I will convey your wishes to her. Thank you!Hello Heinrich. I wish your admiral a speedy full recovery and that you stay free from infection.
That is correct Jan - and funny though it may sound - the downgrading of the restrictions on Covid, is the major cause of the re-outbreak of the pandemic now as there is no longer any compulsory testing or restricted travel between provinces.
Dear Paul, thank you for the well wishes. It certainly looks like everyone is in line to contract the disease at some stage. At this point there is nothing else I can do but go with the flow and see how things pan out.Just catching up and learning that Anna has joined the rank of those affected...my best for a full and speedy recovery. And while I hope you will get to avoid this dastardly illness I suspect everyone will have to take a turn. Wishing you the best.
Geez, reminiscent of the confusing rules, methods and implementation from the various administrations on my side of the great pond. Lots of do’s, lots of I‘m not gonna do that, and the cases kept increasing. That is correct Jan - and funny though it may sound - the downgrading of the restrictions on Covid, is the major cause of the re-outbreak of the pandemic now as there is no longer any compulsory testing or restricted travel between provinces.
Heinrich, my Admiral and myself got it too last week. As we are fully vaccinated, it was like a strong flu. We had the tests at home. If we hadn't, I will never be able to differentiate it from the many flu episodes I had along my life. All we go fine for you and Anna. Just patience and will pass in a week period.Jan, to be perfectly honest, I half and half expected it. She is just in contact with too many people not to have contracted it. And of course, we spent the weekend together, so I am next in line.
Now our policy is easy to follow. No rules - except for schools and government institutions - no compulsory testing and no rules as to what you may or may not do. It's each man for himself.Geez, reminiscent of the confusing rules, methods and implementation from the various administrations on my side of the great pond. Hi Daniel. It is great to hear from you again. (By the way, have you started with the sampan?) Well at least you contracted Covid for a worthy cause . We have also been vaccinated so here's hoping that we will have the same experience that you guys had. I remain very positive and refuse to lose the mental battle at least. Congratulations on Argentina's win - what a match!Heinrich, my Admiral and myself got it too las week. As we are fully vaccinated, it was like a strong flu. We had the tests at home. Our son and friends invited us to watch the football world championship finals (Argentina vs France) in a bar located in Downtown Boston. We were not expecting that the bar will fill with 500 people. The allowed amount if people on that particular bar. 3x times more were left outside on the street.
Well, now you know where we got it . JUMPING & SHOUTING...... it was totally crazy.

It was a once life event experience. The bar was an explosion to something impossible to describe when we WON.
Sorry France !!!
Cheers Heinrich!!!

Great Daniel. Yes, the constant thought of having to move is a nagging one. I just bit the bullet and thought what the heck - I am installing masts and starting the rigging. If I have to move back to South Africa, I will worry about what to do with the model when that time comes.Be sure that all will go fine with the COVID.
No, I haven't started the Sampan. All the workshop is now on boxes. I finished the last one yesterday when I boxed the 9" band saw.
As planned, we expect, in a few months, after the winter, to move to Florida. For now, I just read the forum. I am, and was, always following your built. You will not see me on your watching list to avoid getting constantly emails with all the postings. I just land here from time to time and do a catchup.
And YES !!! .... it was a heart-stopping match !!!
Cheers
Daniel

Thank you for the kind words, Maarten It is great to see you again.Hi Heinrich,
Think I missed the last 100 pages .
Great progress, nearly finished.
Building a new willem barentz after this one? Scratch in a bigger scale?
Hopefully Anna will recover soon.
Bugger, that's not good!It is absolutely crazy to think how we used to live (and accepted it!) compared to the convenience we now enjoy. And yet, people still talk about the good old days!
Well, I just heard that the admiral has contracted Covid so let's see what happens to yours truly!
BTW, a German virologist just announced the Corona pandemic is over and done with...Bugger, that's not good!
Beterschap and stay safe...
Thank you for the well-wishes Johan. The announcement by the virologist made me smile - is it a question that the pandemic is over and done with or are we over and done with worrying about it?BTW, a German virologist just announced the Corona pandemic is over and done with...
I'll not let myself getting trapped in that particular discussion...Thank you for the well-wishes Johan. The announcement by the virologist made me smile - is it a question that the pandemic is over and done with or are we over and done with worrying about it?

A scratch WB? Nope my friend. This will be my last Dutch ship. On that topic, I may just need to ask you a favor concerning De Slegte Boekhandel again.
