HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Dear Heinrich. I think the management of your school can be very proud to have you and your new idea of incorporating syllabi elements in their midst. It takes your responsibilities to a next level but as long as you enjoy the task the weight of those responsibilities will be bearable. I wish you lots of succes and hope you find suitable teachers to enlighten your task and so be able to also shine in our midst again.

Heinrich, my dear friend, i am sorry that we have to miss you for now, but what an opportunity you have here,
We wish you the best of luck and great succes in your new ways to enter the syllabi of each country in the study's at your school, and to get as much as possible students to your teaching facility.

Warm greetings to you and your Admiral, from Peter and Marijke

Hello Heinrich, that is a huge task that you have to master, I wish you the best of luck my friend. It's true, but it's also sad to hear from you only rarely. I wish you every success and it would be nice if we kept hearing from you.
Even if it's just a hello.
Thank you very much, Tobias. I will try to post updates on a more regular basis.

Thank you for the kind words, Herman. I do enjoy this part of the work as it is something that will be in the interests of the students - not only while they are with us, but also afterwards.

Thank you my friend and please give Marjike and the zeeduivels a big hug from me (an extra big one for Clyde). I read about the Model Show that is being organized by the NVM for September this year and really wish I could have attended. In any case, keep well and make the Hermione beautiful my friend!

Dear Friends

Please allow me the opportunity of touching sides with you and giving you an update on what is happening at the moment in my life.

Swedish truck-and bus manufacturer (now part of the Volkswagen AG Group) has opened a new production plant in Rugao, Nantong and between now and January 2024, more than 100 families from Sweden, the Netherlands and Brazil will relocate to Nantong. For any international school in Nantong (there are currently 7) this is a massive opportunity to secure future growth and bragging rights which can be used in future marketing.

As Head of English, my responsibility is considerable as all subjects are taught in English. I am in the process of meeting each and every one of these couples as they arrive to introduce the school and its curriculum to them. We are a Cambridge accredited school, but what I would like to achieve is to incorporate elements of each of these three countries' national syllabi in our curriculum so that when they return to their motherlands or to each of these three previously mentioned countries, the educational transition would be as seamless as possible. This is something that has never been done before anywhere in the world, so I am flying completely solo on this one.

Of course, all my other responsibilities in the school continue as normal (at least until I have found suitable teachers to join our staff), so you can well imagine that there is just no time for shipbuilding. I do try from time to time to pop in here and see what is happening, but that is it for the moment.

I want to conclude by wishing you all well with your current builds and urging you to enjoy every moment that you have available to work on your ships.

As always - with the warmest greetings and the kindest regards - Heinrich
Good afternoon Heinrich. Certainly an opportunity to be hunted. Go for it Heinrich we can wait a while for your WB. BTW 300 pages. Cheers Grant

I'll add my well-wishes to those already shared by our friends. This is an ambitious undertaking; but if we know anything about you Heinrich, it is that you will pour yourself headlong into this new challenge. I'm confident you will do your very best for those you are privileged to serve. Blessings.
Thank you very much for the very kind words, Paul. It is an ambitious undertaking with no guarantees, but the cause is worthwhile. I think the most difficult part will be to get Cambridge's buy-in, but once that is done, the rest should be relatively easy.

Thank you, Grant. As I type this, the WB is an arm's length away from me and serves as great inspiration for any major undertaking. As to the 300 pages and almost 6000 replies, I can only say that I am very humbled by it all. The support of my friends on SOS is something that I will always hold dear.

Hi Heinrich,
I cannot really add to what has already been said, but I also wish you well on this huge enterprise you are undertaking.
Unfortunately life gets in the way of hobbies at times my friend.

Cheers,
Stephen.
Thank you very much Stephen. Yes, life happens - sometimes at the cost of a hobby. Hopefully what I am doing now, will free up some time in the long run and give me the security I need to continue with my hobby in the future. After the WB, there is a Titanic waiting. :)

Hi Heinrich, it’s good to see your thread suddenly come alive again but totally understandable how your increased workload is now a priority. I too wish you every success with your new “venture” in education. As you face the new challenges I am convinced you will turn this opportunity into a resounding success. Very happy for you my friend.

Thank you, Roger. I also see this as a new opportunity for me - not only from an educational point of view, but also as a means to secure my future teaching in China.

Best of luck Heinrich in your future endeavors! I’m sure you’re up to the task. And ship building will be in your future again, I’m sure once you get settled into your new role. ;)
Thank you very much Dean. I will for sure finish the WB, but first I plan on visiting South Africa during the summer holidays. How long I stay there will all depend on my mother's health.

Sounds like an amazing opportunity you should continue to pursue, wishing you all the best.

Model ship building should be enjoyed when you have the time free to devote to it so no need to rush it.
