HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Dear Friends

I have just logged on to answer a few PMs and see now that the log has reached 200 000-view mark with more than 6 000 replies (even though I had to fish it out from the second page of listed build logs!). All I can say is a massive THANK YOU to all of you who have followed along so loyally and patiently.

School closes on the 30th of June after which I will have a week to resume work on the WB. After that, it is off to SA for an envisaged two-week visit before returning to Nantong and to the shipyard. During that time, I hope to get as far as possible on the spars (I don't know whether I will be able to start the sails as well.

So, please bear me with me - I have not forgotten about my pride and joy. She is standing less than half-a-meter away from me. In case you have forgotten what she looks like, just a reminder. ROTF

Still alive and kicking!
June 30th still a while away, but I hope you'll enjoy your stay in SA when the time comes.
Will Anna be joining you?

nice to hear from you and to see the great progress on the ship Okay
good luck Heinrich! It sounds like a great opportunity and with your talents I'm sure you'll be successful.
It is just as good to hear from you my Dear Shota. Thank you for the well wishes. Hopefully I can show some progress in the not-too-distant future.

Hi Johan. I find the P-40 attractive in a robust / industrial sort of way. To me, the special part is obviously the historical background with regards to the Flying Tigers in China. Nope, Admiral Anna will not be joining me - I will have to endure that seriously long flight on my own.

Heinrich, great to see your post. Your WB looks fantastic, I hope you can mine out more time to work on that little beauty. Enjoy your SA trip it‘s always great to spend time with family.
Thank you, Jan. The little beauty makes me feel awfully guilty, but there is unfortunately no option. Yes, it will be the first time in six years that I see my mother and my son.

Have a nice time in SA with your family my friend, and enjoy your time with the WB in the week after schoolclosure
Hello my dear friend. It is great to hear from you. Thank you so much for the well wishes on the pending trip to SA - it is something that I just have to do. Hopefully, I will be able to get to the WB straight away after school closure.

Hello Heinrich, for some reason I thought you had already gone back to SA. Well, congratulations on the 200,000 view of your postings that's truly an amazing honor.
Thank you very much for the kind words, Daniel. You know, the honor should squarely go to all my wonderful friends who have made this such a special build. I owe it to all of you guys to give her my best until the very end.

Heinrich, Just catching up...again. I'm very happy to hear of your opportunity. I am quite certain the families needs and the school's objectives are in very good hands. I would wish you luck, but I somehow believe luck has nothing to do with your success. Be well!
Thank you very much, Ken. I try to minimize the "luck" part as much as possible, but even in the best-planned ventures, luck can sometimes play a role. I will never say no to it! ROTF The objectives are partly those of the school and partly mine, so the trick is to get the two to be co-incidental instead of opposing.

Hello Enrico, it is a pleasure to read you, Your absence is felt, good health. Frank
Dear Frank. It is just as much as a pleasure to me to hear from you again. I really miss regularly following the forum, but hopefully, things will improve in the future.

Hello Heinrich, dear friend

Best luck, It sounds like a great opportunity and with your persistence
I'm sure you'll be successful.
and enjoy your visit to SA.
Regards
Henk
Hello Henk. Thank you very much for the most kind words and well wishes. I fully intend to enjoy my trip to SA and after that to resume work on the WB.

Hello Heinrich, after I logged into SOS this morning it was good to see a recent post from you with a photo of your WB. I too offer my congratulations for reaching 200,000 views. Certainly a wonderful reflection of your abilities and the exceptional modelling interest you instil in others.

As the end of June fast approaches no doubt your anticipation is building for your SA trip. Enjoy my friend.

Thank you very much, Roger. I am very glad that I could share the build with such wonderful friends - it was an honor for me. The trip is a long overdue one thanks to Covid. With China now having opened up, it is a chance I simply have to grab.
