HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Ok, so we are talking about the rigging blocks. I really like the pear wood blocks by Drydock. So I would probably just opt for basic and replace them. Unless the authentic is comparable to Drydock?
Also, do you know what wood types are used? I am very interested in this ship. Thanks!

Hi Dean

Hans does not stipulate what wood he uses other than to say it is a "dark wood". He offers the authentic blocks in single and double configuration and sizes for both are : 2.5mm; 3mm; 4mm and 5mm.

Thank you for the kind words about the inspiration Roger! You are not too far off with me sitting in the back of the moving van. :D I will probably have to do just that to keep my real monster from being damaged!

PS. Please excuse the mess - things are hectic here with all the packing.

The Seaducer will have to be bubble-wrapped Ron - my arms will be occupied by the Willem Barentsz!
What a great name for a very impressive boat. I am assuming you don't get to run her often because of the noise restrictions but no doubt a sight to see.

Roger, believe it or not, but I have yet to run that boat, We have the beautiful Haohe river that runs through Nantong and a multitude of lakes, so I thought I would have ample opportunities to run her. Alas, noise restrictions and the local fishermen who frequent the river put paid to all of that while the lakes are all part of parks and home to bird-life of some sorts. In the hands of Jerry Crowther - multiple USA #1 IMPBA and NAMBA racer - she is good for approximately 95 mph.

I’ve been very busy with delivering the first boxes to the builders who pre-ordered it, but I’m back in the air now.
Heinrich has already answered a few questions, but if there are any more, please ask!
No problem Hans - if you've been busy that is all good!

This week i have shown some pictures of the Dutch Brown Fleet, and after some digging in my foto archive i found also a few foto's of two other sailing replica's in the Netherlands, that are the " Halve Maen " in English " Half Moon " she is lying in Hoorn, a city above Amsterdam
This picture was taken during the Sail Amsterdam 2015,

And in Amsterdam, behind the Shipping Museum ( Scheepvaart museum ) is the " Amsterdam " Lying.
I have from this vessel some more pictures, i will show some of them

The stern of this vessel is a beautifull piece of work, i like it very much

@pingu57 Dear Peter - thank you so much for these beautiful photographs my friend. The Amsterdam, in particular, is very photogenic and you are absolutely right - she does have a beautiful stern! However, it is very interesting that you also posted a picture of the Halve Maen. I do not know if I am allowed to say anything, but I have heard many whispers in the sacred corridors of a certain model manufacturing company ...

Yes Heinrich i heard these whispers as well, i believe someone is going for this ship as wel, perhaps he takes the time to respond to it??

I have finally started a new log on the Fluytschip :)

Wow look at that beauty, looks very fast sitting still.

Hello Dear Friends

Tonight I want to share something very special with you. Some time ago, @rtibbs Ron asked me for my postal address. Tonight, when the Admiral returned home after work, she handed me a parcel that came from the Netherlands. I am always super-excited when I receive something from the Netherlands, but this time it was different as I had no idea what was in the parcel. Can you imagine my feelings when I opened the parcel and found this inside?

Well, I will tell you - dumbfounded and at a total loss for words. Since I have become obsessed with the Willem Barentsz this book (written by Gerald de Weerdt who is constructing the replica, and the inimitable @Ab Hoving Ab Hoving), has been on my wish list. Unfortunately though, (and I am not ashamed to admit it) I just didn't have the finances to buy this book.

To me, this is a very special build and this incredible gesture from Ron has just made it even more special. My friend I do not have the words to thank you enough for the book - it will be an invaluable source of information to me during my build and the fact that it was given to me by a friend just adds to the total experience. I have always been super-motivated for this project, but you have stoked that fire even higher!

Thank you my friend.

Great help and gesture by Ron
Hope that you will show us later on some more details with a look inside or a book review - the book is looking very interesting

My pleasure Heinrich. It's a small token of my thanks for your help in guiding me through the Dutch shipbuilding.
I had read in an earlier post that the book was on your want list. I was concerned regarding the delivery, as you remember, I didn't have your correct zip code when I placed the order however it appears all is well.

Enjoy,
Ron

A beautiful gesture indeed, well done Ron.
Looks like it will be a fantastic resource to compliment you build Heinrich.
