HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Well, I don't know about the rest of the posters but when I heard "she enjoyed her berth in the sun" and "she traveled in my lap" I began to get a bit worried about old Heinrich. Some professional assistance may be required at the shipyard, if you ge my drift.

(see what I did there?.. All in fun! )

Fair winds.. Ed
Excellent puns and word play Ed! And when I tell you that I traveled in the back of an all closed-up Ford Transit van, I bet it doesn't sound any better! You shouldn't worry about me though - you should be happy for me! ROTF

Thank you my friend. I am very happy to be in the new apartment, but saying goodbye to the Admiral for five days was not so easy. :(

Hello Dear Friends

The Willem Barentsz has arrived in her new shipyard safe and sound.

During daytime she enjoyed her temporary mooring in the sun while her permanent berth was being readied.

And then she was moved to her special berth.

Apologies for the reflection of the "photographer" in the background.

There are still a ton of things to unpack and with tomorrow being class preparation day, it is unsure when the shipyard will reopen. At least the shift has been made.

Until next time everyone. Happy modeling!
I bet there was a big smile when you unpacked the WB to see it looking as good as ever.

Yes Richie, she is my Pride and Joy, so I made doubly sure there would be no issues with her transport. In fact all the ships traveled well with the exception of the Batavia which sustained damage - not serious, but just enough to warrant some dedicated repair work.

Hello Everyone

I have just posted a comprehensive book review on the book The Expedition Ship of Willem Barentsz. To those of you who are interested, please have a look.

Thank you for alerting me @Jimsky

Heinrich.... the new COVID variant lock downs in China have affected you ? I hope the answer is NO.

Reading the news today I thought about you immediately.

Best !!
Daniel

Dear Daniel. Thank you for your concern my friend. So far I am not affected (I was tested again yesterday - the third time in a month). Indirectly though, I might well be affected with the school potentially closing if the situation gets any worse.

Hello my Dear Friends

Tonight, for a second time in two weeks I am humbled. Once again the Admiral brought home a special parcel for me - this time it was the three Bluenose 100 Commemorative Dimes released by the Canadian mint and sent to me by @PT-2 Rich. The Bluenose project is one that is very close to my heart from an organizational point of view, so this gift is truly special to me. I will arrange a special place of honor for them in my new "display" area. Thank you so much Rich!

And tonight is doubly special because the new shipyard is operational - mini steps at the moment, but open!

As a “Bluenoser“ I can well understand your pleasure receiving those coins from Rich. A thoughtful gift indeed.

Congratulations on the opening of your new shipyard Heinrich. You must be well pleased to be settling in. Also, I hope you are keeping that covid at bay.

Yes they are very special Roger - and you simply have to love the colored one. The new shipyard is still very strange to me. I am waiting on a work table that I can put in one of the "bedrooms" to work on, but because of Covid there are no deliveries of non-essential items. So, the dining room table has to suffice for the moment! :)

Wait a moment !!!!! .......the modeling table is an ESSENTIAL item, you can't build the ship without it. If needed we can gather signatures on your behalf. :-)

Cheers
Daniel

My apologies, I should have clarified who a “Bluenoser” is for those not familiar with Canada’s east coast. A “Bluenoser” is a person from Nova Scotia. Yes, the term was added to the Oxford dictionary in, I believe, 2013.

Although Lunenburg is the birthplace of the ‘Bluenose‘ all Nova Scotians, and indeed all Canadians, are immensly proud of this historic vessel.

Daniel I agree !!! But I will share a secret with you - just don't tell anyone. Strictly speaking I have never had a modeling table. I did do some work on the kitchen table in the old apartment was more for storing the models than anything else. The dining room table had to triple up as work station for my teaching, shipyard and actual dining table. Anything messy (like sanding) was done in the kitchen over a cardboard box. :) Here, I will have to do the same.

Hi Roger. No need for apologizing. When I researched Bluenose I became aware of the term "Bluenoser" as well as all the possible origins for the name. :)
