HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Great help and gesture by Ron
Hope that you will show us later on some more details with a look inside or a book review - the book is looking very interesting
Hello Uwe. I will do a full review on the book after the weekend - I actually have a professional review available on the book. However, from just glancing quickly through it, it is abundantly clear that it will be an invaluable resource to 16th century shipbuilding!

That is one beautifull present from Ron my friend, congratulations with that, i guess that this wil give an extra instalment of the Willem Barentsz;)
Indeed my friend! You are right about the extra instalment - it may not only add an extra instalment, it may even add a second build! :)

My pleasure Heinrich. It's a small token of my thanks for your help in guiding me through the Dutch shipbuilding.
I had read in an earlier post that the book was on your want list. I was concerned regarding the delivery, as you remember, I didn't have your correct zip code when I placed the order however it appears all is well.

Enjoy,
Ron
Ron, my friend, to me this is an amazing gift. The Chinese delivery system is extremely jacked-up, but language remains a barrier and I am always relieved when I receive my parcels. In this instance though, all is good and the book arrived in very good order! I cannot wait to finish my move over the weekend, settle down and start to work through it properly.

A beautiful gesture indeed, well done Ron.
Looks like it will be a fantastic resource to compliment you build Heinrich.
It will be a wonderful resource Richie. Without giving too much away at this stage, it highlights the differences and similarities between Gerald de Weerdt and Ab Hoving's interpretations. That is why I say, it might just spur on another build! :)

Hello Dear Friends

The Willem Barentsz has arrived in her new shipyard safe and sound.

During daytime she enjoyed her temporary mooring in the sun while her permanent berth was being readied.

And then she was moved to her special berth.

Apologies for the reflection of the "photographer" in the background.

There are still a ton of things to unpack and with tomorrow being class preparation day, it is unsure when the shipyard will reopen. At least the shift has been made.

Until next time everyone. Happy modeling!

Congratulations on the successful move. I know you'll miss Anna during the week, but the weekends will be sweeter than ever.
Thank you Paul. We will just have to make the best of the situation - at least I am settled now. I am just so chuffed to have read your posting about Damian. That made my day!:)

Looking good! Now, the work begins....getting settled and situated. Hope you can find the time to continue your build - a great way to relax!

I don't know, but to me she looks a bit neglected and eager to be complemented by some masts and yards and rigging... ;)

Thank you Phil. I would love to knuckle down and start building, but unfortunately there are other priorities that simply needs to take precedence for a few days. I have to keep reminding myself that I started the build only three months ago of which two allowed me uninterrupted building time - so I shouldn't complain. :)

If this is "neglect" then I don't want to see what pampering looks like ROTF. Before masts, yards and rigging in general, there are still a host of things that need to be completed first. I have just highlighted two of the more prominent ones.

Well, I don't know about the rest of the posters but when I heard "she enjoyed her berth in the sun" and "she traveled in my lap" I began to get a bit worried about old Heinrich. Some professional assistance may be required at the shipyard, if you ge my drift.

(see what I did there?.. All in fun! )

Fair winds.. Ed
