Good Morning Heinrich- immaculate preparation and research- I am with you that stern is sexy! Oh Boy, that seems a load of “jigsaw” block making and future sanding. You clearly know what you are doing however if I ever box a hull I would attempt the foam method of Olga.- my lazy nature revealedWhile I should have been sleeping, I was building puzzle!

I must say, I find this quite therapeutic - whether I will find the hours and hours of sanding that lies ahead, also so therapeutic, will have to be seen.
Thank you very much my friend. It's much appreciated!Hello my friend, I love the way you are doing this build log. Its like a tutorial on ship building.![]()
For sure, Grant - it is a lot of sawing and fitting everything together, but that's OK. It's the sanding part (remember, I do everything by hand) that is going to take many hours. But ... the secret to a good planking job, lies in the preparation.Good Morning Heinrich- immaculate preparation and research- I am with you that stern is sexy! Heinrich, I know most would feel I should seek professional help but, my favorite tool (if you can call it a tool) is sandpaper. While I should have been sleeping, I was building puzzle!![]()

Hi Ron - no I don't think for a moment that you need professional help, because you like sanding.Heinrich, I know most would feel I should seek professional help but, my favorite tool (if you can call it a tool) is sandpaper.
With a good sanding things just seem to come to life.
Hoi Stephan. Luckily or unluckily for me, I stay alone so all sanding will be done by the time she comes back. Unfortunately, that also means that I am responsible for the cleaning up. As to the sanding dust - I live in China with its infamous pollution and I smoke Chinese cigarettes - I'm in trouble either way. A little bit of wood dust ain't going to make a difference!I think you both need professional help. Sanding is no fun, dust breathing, dust on everything include an angry admiral who needs to dust the home again.
You are so right Paul.Cubists like it just the way it is now...no sanding...allow the viewer to find the woman within...

Sorry H, but that hull is a little bit too squareHello Everyone.
After 5 meters of Paulownia went into the little ship this is what she looks like tonight. I have yet to do the stern and the bow, but I will first sand the rest of the hull and then box those sections last when I have a clear line of the hull shape.
Viewed from above there aren't too many tell-tale signs of what is going on beneath the waterline.

But flipped over - you can see the full effect.

Somewhere in there, there is a beautiful woman waiting to be unleashed!

For their expedition ships, Dutch shipwrights of the sixteenth century, favored a relatively squared hull.![]()

Indeed, my friend. When I am finished, I will have a solid hull below the first deck, but first, sanding! Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, I have nothing else to do, so I might as well spend my time sanding!Heinrich, this has been some Serious boxing my friend, good luck with the sanding![]()

My friend, I have been sanding since 07H45 this morning. It is now 18H23 in China. This is a HUGE work - not a job for the faint-hearted. It is just as well I live alone, because you don't want to see what things look like here.Well, in that case you don't have to get bored today.Don't forget to take enough coffee, that gives plenty of energy
