HMS ALERT 1777 cutter POF by shota70 [COMPLETED BUILD]

One question. Why do you mill the step on the whole top side of the plank? The original planks had a thickness of 2.5''. In the midship section they are on top of each other as far as I understood.

my friend
I rely on the plans of the ship from the book and the building logs of my predecessors and especially on that of our friend Maarten, and as you can see the construction form relies on a step

good evening dear friends
To my delight, today I finished milling the boards in the Mf 70, but I started to install them. Because in the last two weeks I have already explained a lot about the work/creation process of the planking, I will not extend the explanations and let the pictures express themselves.
Good night, I'm just tiredSleep

Once the planking work is coming to an end - there is already light at the end of the tunnel, maybe a very small light, but yiou can see it already
Thank you very much my dear friend We have a little joke about this proverb, we continue it like this: the question is whether it is sunlight or a truck moving in your direction  ROTF
I like this challenging journey, because thanks to it, I acquire knowledge and skills that I will need in the following models.

Beautiful work! Patience is certainly a virture huh?

Due to experience, it is mostly a truck or train that's raging in your direction. Or do I sound to depressive ROTF (light in tunnel)

But this kit is a good kit to experience an POF build. And it looks great to do.
thank you very much my dear :)
I'm agree with you, it's a great model

This is very good work, my friend. I do believe and I have the utmost faith in you that you will finish with a beautifully planked hull.
thank you very much my dear friend for your compliments and support :)

good evening dear friends
Today I decided to took a break from the process of preparing and installing the planking.
I start to work on another area of the ship. During the last week's work, the top jig made of compressed cardboard cracked and started to break.
After thinking, I decided to get rid of this board and start sawing the frames according to the lines I marked about two months ago (the lines were marked by a matching marking board and represent the upper part of each frame).
also , I decided to give up cutting the ship lengthwise, similar to what our friend Maarten did, out of fear that such a cut would damage the beauty of the structure. Instead, I plan to make a rectangular cut on the side without planking so that the work can be seen on the contents of the lower deck.
For now, I'll let you get an impression of the last day's work, I still have a lot of work left. I have also attached a picture of the variety of work tools that I used in the framework of the work.
wish to all of us Have a pleasant and enjoyable weekend

I'm happy to hear of the change in plans and the movement away from the Big Cut. I think the window approach will still make this a very special build. Bravo!
Good evening Shota, I think the idea with the side cutouts super. A well deserved weekend to you too my friend.
thank you very much my dear friend's, I'm happy that you like my ideas :)

hello dear friends
Today I finished cutting and sanding the top line of the frames on the left side.

By the way, I marked with a pencil the three rectangular areas on this side which created a sort of window for the observer from the side on the lower deck. I would love to hear your opinion on the location of the areas intended for cutting. Of course, I am open to any comments and advice, with an emphasis on the work method and things that must be observed when performing the work, as well as whether you recognize a problem with the locations of the rectangles highlighted with a pencil line.

Hi Shota

In my opinion that would be a shame, it looks nice like this. I myself struggled with the decision of how to show the interior of the ship without losing its shape.

All of us on the forum are totally into this hobby and if we were to look at your boat, there would never be an end of questions, pictures of the interior, etc.

Some other guests arrive for whom your boat is just a piece of furniture. They usually ask how much it's worth and when I tell them it's my priceless treasure, I get thet stange look in them eyes .

In the end, I thought of making a little book in which there would be stages of working with pictures, so if anyone is interested, let them take a look.

And one important thing, IT'S YOUR SHIP SHOTA AND DO WHATEVER YOUR HEART WANTS.

thank you very much for your support and kind words :)
I know the feeling that accompanies the moments when a person who is not from our field looks at the model we built. I try to give them focused explanations that will create curiosity in them, especially among teenagers and young people.
I have a mission that I have taken upon myself for the next years to expose as many people as possible to the hobby and make young people want to start with this hobby in future.
