HMS Beagle 1/60

A strange thing is happening to me.
As I progress into the building of the HMS Beagle, I am growing fond of the boat as a whole.
My idea of a boat in water, as part of a drastic diorama, has become less appealing. Dioramas tend to steal the limelight, in this case, the boat.

I also want to see how I do in planking the whole hull, and not just to the waterline.

I am sorry if my change of plan has disappointed you.

So, I am still going to exercise some liberties with the build, such as lighting.

I saw an odd approach to adding a diorama to a standalone model. Logically, it does not make sense, but for some reason, it looks okay. What do you think?

Before I do any planking, I need to work out a few details about the interior wiring for lighting and how to alter or replace some of the kit pieces.

I want to have interior night lighting visible through the skylights, but there is a problem...

Peter,

Having spent too much time - trial and errors - with lightning (you were so kind with your comment in in my Sov. log) Please let me know, I would be more
than happy to offer any help - PS: I'm not an expert haha. But I may have a few helpful ideas.
I also lit my Santisima cross section and have some thoughts about wiring issues.

Regards,

Thank you very much.
I had a look at your cross-section build and the lamps. It is good to see a builder who uses their imagination in their build, to fulfil their own sense of what is right/better.

Personally, I like to do the same, but my quirky sense of humour, at times, overtakes what is right/better.

About lighting, I like the idea of nano/pico LEDs.
I plan to use a flickering circuit of old design, if I can find a leaky capacitor ;). Otherwise, there are programmable methods which I prefer not to get into. It seems like a lot of trouble to make a LED doubt its own luminosity :D; besides, a covered lamp does not flicker much.
I plan to have the circuitry accessible under the display case.

Thank you for your reply and offer to help (which you have already).

Apologies for all the “likes”- I had to play some catch up. A very interesting log Kraken and all. So far looking good. Nice! Cheers Grant
Hi @GrantTyler . No need to apologise; I appreciate your interest in the log.
However, I may not use the Kraken in this build, as I have developed an interest in seeing this ship with its hull out of water. Of course, my imagination is now running wild with the idea of the Beagle in drydock, getting copper-plated, with the Kraken coming to shore to devastate the whole setup., ROTF.
