HMS Fly (Amati) 1:64 Robertd [COMPLETED BUILD]

Received the Fly yesterday and at the moment looking at the plans and bits and pieces , this will be a lengthy project and looking forward to this project , it doesn’t come with a base and pedestals so will have to order them separately ASAP, also I follow my partner in crime Nomad (LOL) closely who is also building the Fly , and with his inspiration I like a similar deck layout .

Nothing is glued so far , just test fit of the bulkheads and decks and it shows the quality of the product , also gives me an idea for extra midship supports for the split main deck and position of the planking in that area.

Bulkheads in place and glued , partly planked the lower deck as this won’t be in full view when the gun deck is in place , the next item will be fairing and filler blocks stem and stern , also as the gun deck produced in 2 halves , look at extra support blocks in the centre where the split is , and continue planking with the deck in place

No I didn’t make the display cases , too complex and no equipment , so used seacraft gallery.com.au , the one for the ‘Cutty Sark’ custom made , origin China , it just the final touch I thought

The wood oil really brings out the grain in the wood

Rosie loves sewing all sorts of things for her grandchildren in the UK , she is pretty good at that , yes there can be a a competition on the dinIng table

I took notice of Mark (Nomad) when experiencing a non alignment with the outer stern extensions , test fit the deck and had to make adjustments for a proper fit , also I used filler blocks where necessary and test fit the forward deck in case something is amiss , the gun deck is in place and ready for planking
