HMS Jalouse - Caldercraft by Ted

Finished. Raggedy but sansdable.
I saw on models with the boats painted white with black gunnels. Another black bottom. Considered doing the hull black with and ochre stripe and black gunnelIMG20250531174601.jpg

I'm obviously experiencing some sort of mental decline. Glued up the bulkheads and false deck on the small boat. Had them really secure with thorough glueing. Then discover that they weren't in the proper.order. I numbered.the parts while still attached to the board. Put on in order indicated.it was all fouled up.
Have disassembled and now ready for install again.

Perseverance is a virtue Ted, and you are persevering, be happy :) The small boat is identified as a cutter on your plans which would be lapstrake planked. Are you going to give it a try? I find it is actually easier than carvel built boats like launches. In general, the thread on building a ship's boat here at SoS may be helpful.

Not a chance I'm trying my first lapstrake project in something this small.
Plugging away at the cutter. I ran out of correct sized materials on the second half of the starboard bottom. I made some strips out of leftovers from the Bluenose.
These tight bends are more difficult in the pear wood IMG20250607063232.jpgIMG20250607063222.jpg

We've all had days like that. Don't despair, with all you've learned from these, your next one will be great!
Thank you. I have good grasp on my limitations. Why hang a piece of garbage on my beautiful model. I should have done a better estimate on the strake materials I was using. Once I switched to the materials I had to cut down to width it all went wonky.

I bought a sheet of 9.2mm brass stock and cut it down by scribing with my xacto blade and then cutting it with scissors. I tried just using the scissors without scribing but couldn't hold it straight. Would it be better to cut completely through with the xacto knife?IMG20250608112931.jpgIMG20250608113354.jpg
