Hello Maarten,that part is done now ,at least most of it,I have tried to cut out the bulkeads on paper with a little knife and glue it on plywood but that method did not work for me well ,it was much easier for to use carbon copy.I do not have a laser printer though.
 
Hello shipmates,after I finished shimming the frames above the lower gundeck to have the proper thickness I started the preparation to locate the gunports,I am also building a mock up guncarriage snd gun barrel for the correct elevation of the gunports.

I know it's a bit late for you, but I print my shapes on a normal printer and use rubber cement to 'glue' the paper to the wood. There are no distortions as with white glue and it comes off very easily.

That's a great way of doing the gun port's trimming. I assume that you borrowed it from Janis from one of his builds.

Looks good, Zoli! You just have to sand the tubes to the inside and to the outside of the frames. On the inside the planks go to the inside edges of the tubes, covering the tube fully. On the outside they have to be trimmed according to the overlap, by which the gun port covers will overlap the tube sides - plus some tiny gap of course to let the gun port covers to fit into the openings.
You misunderstood my earlier question. I meant how are you going to make the gun barrels (the final ones, not the one for the mockup). Turned of brass? Cast and painted? Turned of timber and painted? Or bought from a supplier?

Hello shipmates,I have a big dilemma,does anybody know what is the correct positions for gunports?Are the gun ports are parallel with the water level or they are following the deck sheerline,what I mean the sides of the gun ports are perpendicular on the water level and top,bottom is parallel with the water level?

Hello @trippwj ,do you know anyting about the correct gunport linings follows the the deck sheerlines and some tilting are allowed for the gunports?

That's a very interesting question. I remember having this conversation with piratepete many years ago when I was a member of another forum.
Pete has written many articles and he told me and this makes perfectly good sense, it that the gun ports follow the line of the decking and is not square to the waterline.
The reason why it makes sense is that generally the Wales and the planking also follow the top decking.
Therefore, the vertical sides of the gun ports are NOT parallel to each other.
Hope this makes some sence

Hi Zoly,

You are doing great, Like the results sofar.

To my knowledge for gun ports the sides are perpendicular to the waterline. The top and bottom however are following the shape of the deck line. On the inside there is normally one thicker plank fitted ( in Dutch weger) which was directly the lower edge of the gun ports following the rise of the deck.
Offcourse the British could do it differently.
 
Victory seems to have the same construction, see picture below.

You can clearly see the lower hull plank which is much thicker the the ones on top. This plank is creating the lower edge of the gun port following the shape of the deck.
 
Hi Zoltan,
I agree with Maarten on a ship with the frames perpendicular to the waterline the gun port sides would be parallel to the frames and the top and bottom would follow the deck line.
