HMS Victory 1:72 - Caldercraft by Gilbertm

Have a great time building this incredible and what i think is still the best Victory

Built mine over 5 years JUst abit of Rigging to do

Mckays book REALLY covers the most intricate Rigging

The instructions are actually very good Plans SUPERB

I would use the Amati Copper as is ready to go and actually more accurate you vcan build it to over lap as per the real thin (ie Stern to Stem)

I always feel nostalgic when I see familiar shapes... but for now I'm working on Alert, but someday I'll finish my Victory. Happy building!
Richard, Sergey, thanks to both of you
Sergey, I am about to start coppering and will definitely leverage your experience on this matter
Best

Good morning Gilbert. Bravo Bravo. Brings back memories....... 8th November 2025- SA vs France. Rugby nations champions vs 6 nations champions ! Going to be a biggie:D:D. Cheers Grant
Thanks Grant for your feedback
Not sure I'll be able to watch the game though; I'll be in the US at that time and I am not sure the game will be on air; I'll check anyway.
Cheers

Hello Gilbertm,
The hull planking, deck planking, and paint job are absolutely beautiful and top-notch.:)
And you've even added lighting—that's amazing! :D
I look forward to seeing more of your progress on this project.
Best regards.;)
Thanks for your input Mellpapa
I am currently coppering the hull; very tedious work but really worth it.
Cheers

Just trying to catch up on everyone's work.

Have to say these last 2 pages of your build are getting me back in the mood!!!!
Great, detailed construction and perfect painting Gilbert!

Well done.

Thanks for your feedback Chris
I am making some small adjustment to the painting since there is some "blur" in a few areas. I found a way to avoid that and it proves efficient.
IN parallel, I am coppering the hull.
Cheers

Hello friends
Having completed the gunport lining, the next phase was hull coppering.
For that I used the plates that came with the kit and medium CA glue.
As expected this is a very long and tedious work but I am quite happy with the results so far.
I have completed the starboard side and used approximately 1200 plates. It took me a little over 2 weeks for this.

In parallel, I am also making some adjustments to the ochre and black paint as there is some blur between the 2 colors from time to time. I investigated the best approach for avoiding this and this is now coming much better.

Let me now move to the port side and have fun :p
