L'Artésien 1764 - 64 Kanonen-Schiff in 1:48 nach Plänen von Jacques Fichant

Looks great Andreas - I took a similar approach on my build - I installed the corner brackets/supports large and sanding them to spec on the model. Should be an easy build from here on out !!!! lol

Your modeling is definitely in the top class. Thanks for posting the well done photos of this beautiful build.
Allan

Thank you so much for all your kind words and praise; they make me very happy!

Unfortunately, I have some bad news.:eek:

Luckily, only the counter keel broke; everything else came apart at the glued joints. I'll see if I can put it back together perfectly.

Hi Andreas,

That's really annoying what happened to you. But I think many of us have experienced something like that.

I'll check back here in a few days and enjoy seeing the progress on this beautiful model. Then all of this will be forgotten. Thumbsup

Up until now, I thought I'd managed to fix it pretty well. It'll be difficult to repair the counter keel without leaving a small gap, but luckily we have sawdust and glue.Speechless

Luckily, it didn't fall directly off the workbench; otherwise, the damage would probably be worse. While reinstalling the keel, I leaned the ship upright, bow down, against the edge of the workbench and, of course, bumped it. I wanted to share this with you too, not just the fun parts of shipbuilding. :(:)

Uggh - please keep us posted on the repairs - Im sure you will get it fixed seamlessly and nothing will catch the eye as the ship continues to grow.

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. :)

After a two-day break, I was able to continue. You can see some damage in certain areas, but it's very minor. And so, apart from the mirror warp, the stern assembly is now complete. It's been a great experience building such a complex structure...

Hello everyone!

I haven't had much time for my hobby these past few days. Life outside the shipyard needs to be nurtured too, of course. :)

Nevertheless, here's a small update: Before I install the gunports, I need more rigidity. I don't want the upper filler pieces between the frames to break while I'm sawing and filing them, as there's not much material there. So, I've installed the lower stringer. I followed the method used by Oliver (@Oliver1973 Redoutable). The idea for the clamps also comes from his build log. However, the brass clamps that Oliver made are better, as they can withstand more pressure when tightened. Mine are partially being pulled through the slot on the counterpart. I'll make some more with narrower slots. Many thanks for the ideas!

A little photo tour:
