Le Coureur 1776, model 1:48 by Adi

When I look at all the high quality builds, including this one, on this site it's as if SOS is crowded by professional modelers, preparing models for display in a museum, rather than presenting them in our living rooms. :D

Thank you all for your support, this is a real help.
There arises the question, can the door of the hatchway be movable or not? Close inspection of the parts in the kit showed that it should be possible.
So take courage and go to work.

Mark the position of the holes for the door hinges and drill them by hand using a 1 mm drill bit.

Set the hinges for testing.

Bending the ends of the door hinges around an 0,8 mm wire as a bending aid.

Dry fit of the concept. It seems to work.

All parts are blackened and then fixed with superglue. After a reasonable drying time, a try.......

Heureka, it works.

I really like the ambience of your build Adi. It is very neatly executed, but the ship maintains an "industrial" work-man like ethic.
Dear Heinrich, very nicely seen, that is more or less intended. A ship is for me a commodity, that may also be recognized as such. But that is of course a matter of opinion.

Thanks for all likes and comments. The windlass is the next challenge. Just like Uwe, I compared the kit version with the Boudriot version and came to the conclusion that the kit version does not work at all. I simply do not like it.

With the mast partners, thanks to Uwe, I came to the same conclusion that the wedges absolutely have to be there. In the same breath I replaced the mast partner of the main mast, because it has fallen victim to a bronzing attack and no longer looks very nice.

Hello, Adi. If the first two images are the kits supplying windlass and below images your modifications?
Hi Jim, only the first picture shows on the left side the bearing from the kit, the right side is already the Boudriot variant, only the pin for the original bearing is still on. The next two pictures already show the rebuilt version.
