If I like your boxwood planking? On the deck definitely - the hull planking I still do not know my personal taste.......

The starboard side has been finished with the inside planking, we're continuing on the port side, while it was drying I started on the outside planking, here I'm using boxwood again to pick up the yellow of the coloring as can be seen in the monograph.

Hello everyone, thank you for your interest.

Uwe @Uwek for the boxwood, it will be similar to La Palme, there will be another row, then the whale will be made of hornbeam again up to the waterline, the rest of the hull will be made of pear or white hornbeam. I based this on the color sample from the monograph. Since I'm not a fan of brushes, I'll try to do it with natural wood and if necessary, stain will be the only option.

Hello everyone, the interior planking is finally finished and I have already made preparations for drilling the holes in the rear area. Here, too, iron nails are used. Some people will ask why iron nails and not tree nails.

I have consulted Mr. G. Delacroix on this. GD's answer: in the French Navy, the nails on the decks are made of iron, contrary to the current "fashion" of making them out of wood.
The wooden supports (which would justify the use of wood) are reserved for the accommodation of the personnel and are definitely not on the artillery decks. And on a service ship like Le Rochefort, of course, even less so.

The same goes for the nails on the planks of the bulwark.

The first two hatches have already been made.

Hello Peter, yes it is very fascinating and at the same time frightening. You don't see it nearly as extreme with your eyes, it's only with your cell phone camera that it looks so colorful.
