Modelship Dockyard - New Kit [Modelship Dockyard] PoF H.M.S. Enterprize 1774, the 1/48 version!

To help build this ship, is there any additional documentation (book, article, plans...). I am thinking in particular of books like 'Anatomy of the ship' which are a very complete source of information. I searched on the internet and I didn't find much but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

At present, I only have the Chinese version of the manual. Victor will upload the translated manual later
I've honestly never ever read a manual whenever schemes, plans or draughs or even sketches were available. If anyone needs a text so badly, the ... "enterprise" maybe execeeds a bit his skills. IMHO

Got mine on order. Waiting eagerly for delivery after Chinese New Year. I will like to begin a build log when l start, maybe April or May 2025. Will anyone else who has this kit on delivery be starting a build log?

A question please. Looking at these photos, it looks like the cut outs for the carlings on the deck beams are 'sandwich type' ie 3 mm beams and 1 mm peaces either side with the cut outs already made. l like this method as was done on the Blandford kit. Looking through the unboxing photos supplied by Zoly of this kit, l could not see the 1mm pieces with the cut outs included in the board parts, but there are drawings with the cut outs for each beam included with the kit. does this mean the modeller cuts the indents for each carling using these drawings manually?

I'm not sure I understand. Are the deck beams (and beam arms where they occur) made up of 3 laminations - the middle one being cut-out to hold a tenon on each end of the carlings? If so, a very neat idea.

Not quite... once assembled and varnished, the "plywood", altough made of valuable veneer, isn't good looking and not adequate to the overall level of these models. Solid beams with 45° notches (or without pre-cut notches at all) would be a far better solution, in my humble opinion.

I agree with you on the need for good cosmetics and sound construction. But I suspect that once laminated together 3 pieces of (say) holly or boxwood - woods with no pronounced grain or colour variations and using the same grain direction would look pretty much like one. Visibly plywood beams would certainly not cut the mustard..

I already faced the problem with my cherry Hoy. I had to replace some kit's beams with scratched new ones from solid planks due to the wrong position of pre-cut notches, and bashed the others by applaying a veneer on the upper face of existing pieces. The result was incoparably better in both case. If I was allowed, I would rather buy just the frame (maybe along with the raw planks required) scratching all beams, carlings, knees, breast hooks, floor timbers and so on. I'm a bit choosy, I know... . I'm couting down the days, though.

The text may contain explanations, tips, and items requiring attention such as "do not glue"

Will be starting a build log, about the same time you are !

We have optimized the details of the pumping truck section based on 1/96。In the officially released package, there will be 2 active pumping trucks includedView attachment 461347View attachment 461356

Dear friend, I noticed that even in 1:48 version the floor and futtock riders are omitted. Is any source provided or available to build them by scratch and have these beautiful structures installed? Thanks in advence for your kind answer. Regards.

I looked to see if there was anything in the original contract for one of her sister ships, Aurora 1776 but there is no information on number, scantlings, etc. just that they were to made of "growth of England".

Hi Albert, There is no indication of floor and futtock riders being used on Enterprize 1774, which we will not be including them.

In a ship designed for them, how many futtock riders would be installed ? I imagine that they were not installed over each frame, but only in certain areas, and spaced out. Seems to me that they would be used only in 2 and 3-gun deck ships where the weight of the decks would stress the frames, and not in frigates. I'm sure some of the engineers here know !
Thanks

Hello, do you have a photo of the 'Futtock Riders' because it is very badly translated into French by Google Translate and I cannot understand what it is. thanks in advance

The italian for is "porche". They are those robust timbers in the photo wich ride the keelson at 90° degrees.
