Modelship Dockyard - New Kit [Modelship Dockyard] PoF H.M.S. Enterprize 1774, the 1/48 version!

Ohh ,sorry, misunderstood. Those are almost impossible to sell
i think one of the problems is that some of the ship models are too big and most people would not know where to put them. Also, there is question of how to get the said boat to the potential customer without breaking.

Just recieved the kit. I'll look through it to make sure I have everything, but I probably won't get to actually building it until one year from now if not longer. The constitution is what I am working on now and it is hard.
Do you mean the 1/48 version? Is it available?

It is not difficult to get a finished model safely to the client, but the cost for proper crating and shipping can be quite high. HIgh end antique dealers are a good source for the names of qualified craters and shippers. I have shipped without incidence within the US a number of times for under $1000 and to Europe on three occasions but at a somewhat higher price. In the latter cases I had the clients make arrangements with their own services in the event there were any problems, which, thankfully, did not occur.

Hello people, this is Geno here sunning my bones in southern Florida and wondering if anyone has heard anything encouraging about about the new 1:48 Enterprize.

What is happening to Le Fleuron? No updates for many months.
Got tired of waiting and ordered another kit. There are a number of new model kits coming out that all have one thing in common: you can’t get any of them.
Developing a good kit requires a dissent amount of time. Announcement of new kits doesn't mean they will be ready for purchase in a few months. In the example of LeFleureon - it should be a nice kit, but kind of complex to develop\produce. Specifically, in a small shop like Modelship DockYard. As far as the latest news, they are working very hard to release an Enterprise in 1:48th scale, many of our members have been waiting for a long time.

The easiest time to overcome waiting is to buy something readily available. Likely, there are many kits available to choose from, Oh almost forgot...try building something small from scratch?! Why not?

I was more curious if they had stopped the development completely and abandoned the project. They published frequent updates and suddenly stopped before concentrating on the new Enterprise.

As far as we are aware, the development is still on the radar. Consider the fact that once the kit ready for production, it will be sold on the Asian market first as it doesn't require an English manual. Also, using the first assembler's feedback, they fix the bugs and possible discrepancies before the production hits European and USA markets.

Thanks a lot for the precision, Jimsky and Dry-dock. Truly appreciate it. Like many, I was wondering if the project (le Fleuron) was still on the table. I very happy that it does. Modelship DockYard is producing great kits with top-of-the-line choice of woods. I wish them great business success... BTW Dry-dock is a fantastic distributor. Very nice of them supporting those hard-to-get kits and accessories.

I appreciate the feedback. I know I’ve been only waiting a couple of months but when I saw the kind of detailed kit that I’ve been looking for I get a little antsy to get it and get started. It’s going to take a while to build this thing & I’m anxious to get started. Thanks

I've been waiting for a year ! I am glad that both kits are still in development. I feel (by divination, reading bird flights and entrails) that HMS Enterprise will be ready first. Hopefully the English manual is worth the wait. It is essential to have a well organized, well illustrated, readable, logical manual when making such a complex kit. The Chinese wood ship kits are superb, way ahead of others, EXCEPT IN THE MANUALS, which go from vexing to almost maddening. However, the Chinese DO KNOW how to make excellent instruction manuals. Just look at the manuals for complex plastic kits such as The Lancaster 1/32 by Border models.....what a kit, and what a manual ! Enough yapping about manuals...(I've been finishing HMS Alert-the instructions were really poor; I made a lot of mistakes and spent many hours trying to decipher/understand them; if it wasn't for the excellent build videos and pics in the ALERT Group build, I would not have gotten to where I am now-almost finished-without going insane.
Anyway, still eagerly waiting for 1:48 Enterprise and Le Fleuron. When we finally get either one of them, we should do a group build. I've been eager to learn when they will be available because I do not want to start a big project before the kits are released-As in life in general, it is a question of timing... I'm staying hopeful.

Always keep in mind these large POF kits are not for the faint of hearted, there will always be a large part of experience needed to build these, as they are really complicated models.
You can't put experience or technical skill in a manual and also a manual will never cover all topics to build a model.
The more you build the more clear it becomes, in the end you don't need a manual to build, only a parts list. Or you need it to look what you did wrong when you screwed up :-) .

Building should be about fun, but selecting a kit way above your current skill will not provide that or you must prefer a steep learning curve.
