MY BLUENOSE- YUANQING SCALE 1:72 SCALE [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hello Ship Mates, This AM the little fellows and I completed installing the 49 hull frames on our YQ-Bluenose and we figured it would be a good time to take a couple of our Tadeonal Cathedral view of this mile stone event.

Hello Ted Roberson, I wish to thank you for all of your likes I really do appreciate these very much. I do hope that my build will help in your YQ-Bluenose build. I enjoyed my Bluenose build very much and it gave both Bernadette and I many enjoyable hours.
Regards Lawrence

I broke one of mine too! They are thin and fragile with all of the notches for the frames. The notches all have to be filed to fit snug, but not too tight or they will break. Not a pleasant task!
Good morning gentlemen,
I have just started removing the frame parts on my Bluenose. All of my knife blades are thicker than the laser cut opening. What are you guys using to cut the laser traces? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you. I really appreciate you sharing your expertise and experience

Hello Ted, when removing frames or most any other pieces from their laser cut outs, I use an exacto #2 blade 75% of the time then an exacto chisel point for the rest. I would say I have 99% success rate this way. The #2 blade is so pointed you can slice at least halfway through from one side then flip it over and do the same.

On following other build logs I see the hull frames being glued over the plans. How do you keep the frame from sticking to the plan paper.

Hello Ted, I like to use my Olfal box cutter extractible blade knife to remove the Laser cut parts free. The blades are very thin and the larger handle seams to give me much more control over the Exacto.

Hi Ted, this is where the glass comes in very handy, place your planes underneath the glass glue and then clamp, when dry remove and then glue the two frames together.
Regards Lawrence

PS check post #97 in my build log.

Hello Ship Mates, Well I finally got the little fellows to clean up the char on the first 1 to 8 frames. We also tapered these frames and dry fitted them to the YQ-Bluenose keel. My Admiral was also good to me as she gave me another set of files they are 1/2 diamond grit, and 1/2 steel. Much smaller than the first set making the huge task ahead of us just a little bit easier.

Thanks for the hint on the files. I bought a set and they're working great

Hello Ship Mates, Just a tiny update this AM as we have begun adding those Tiny brass nails that we received from the Dry-dock Models and Parts to simulate the bolts in the ships hull frames. Only 54 sets to go. These tint nails are only 0.023" or 0.6mm in diameter.

How many nails should I order for my Bluenose
Ted
