The carryover of the aft wall panels/decorations to the bow wall is nice but I have to say that to my eye (literally) the rather large bow foliage/leaves look too large and bland without a similar small narrow veining that may be more in scale and appearance to the finely routed door frames. The aft decorations are small and tight work that to me makes this bow piece too large. As you said though, once that area is completed the larger more flat floration may sit well. Just a thought. Rich, I appreciate your honesty.
And I have few thoughts to share. First, I decided to be creative and add a carving around the bow. And I decided to utilize the available space and make it tall. Perhaps if I had made it equidistant all around the bowsprit opening, it would have been more pleasing to the eyes?
But I look at it this way, by the time the ship is finished, the eye tends to take in the overall picture, at which point any blemishes tend to blend into the landscape! ;)
So as much as I agonize over every little detail, I chose to move forward and let it be. There is so much more going on this ship, that I can’t get bogged down on any one detail. So overall I think it’s a nice carving, and I have to be happy with the experience gained, regardless of how well it fits in.

I fully agree with your observation that in the end we look at the whole, the forest not a specific tree and also agree with your need to continue and not be tethered to a peg in the whole field of dreams. Rich

A few notes, the placement of the door hinges are such that they swing open towards port and starboard. This is necessary because of the triangular deck area and half wall that will be there. That’s the only way they could open! ;)
And I added some bolt heads around the flange area of the carving. This indicates the carving was not only for decoration, but as a functional piece to support the bowsprit. Artistic license here…lol. But hey, it’s me…remember? :p

A very nice overall look of the front wall.
Now with all the attention our eye is very much focused on the bowsprit decoration. But soon, with all other things installed, there is so much to see that it will be less noticeable.
The decorative frame along the top edge ........ home made ...... with an AL shaper .......?

Hello everyone, I’m just checking in. I started on the stern, but nothing really to share yet. I have taken some time off from ship building, as I have been busy with family… babysitting my grandchildren and it was my oldest daughters birthday today. I’m so proud of her, and she’s as beautiful as her mom!

Thanks to everyone for the comments and birthday wishes. I am lucky to have such a great family, which is why hobbies take a backseat to family! If my granddaughter stays the night with us, I wait until she goes to sleep before I work on the ship. ;)
My wife is from Spain, and my daughters take after her... so as Johan said, lucky for them....lol. :p
