Rich, I appreciate your honesty.
And I have few thoughts to share. First, I decided to be creative and add a carving around the bow. And I decided to utilize the available space and make it tall. Perhaps if I had made it equidistant all around the bowsprit opening, it would have been more pleasing to the eyes?
But I look at it this way, by the time the ship is finished, the eye tends to take in the overall picture, at which point any blemishes tend to blend into the landscape!

So as much as I agonize over every little detail, I chose to move forward and let it be. There is so much more going on this ship, that I can’t get bogged down on any one detail. So overall I think it’s a nice carving, and I have to be happy with the experience gained, regardless of how well it fits in.
