NORSKE LOVE - Billing Boats 1:75 scale

Hello fellow model builders…I haven’t been doing much modeling…maybe a few hull planks here and there. Nothing much to show yet.
Most of my attention has been on a project we began out back…it’s been quite a journey so far.

It all started with excavation…and a lot of it!

Then came rebar, water plumbing, and electrical pipes…

Then the gunite was sprayed in and troweled…

Then it looked like a big sand castle…lol

Then there was tile and coping…

To be continued…

Hi Dean - mate that’s really looking the business. Most guys just have to be content with a stand for their builds but you must have a very, very understanding Admiral to let you have all that for the Norske Love. Will there be champagne on hand for the launch ?? :-)

Good morning Dean. Glad to see you are alive and kickingROTF. Serious project doing your own pool- looking great. Before you Decide to build a tennis court some play with your Norske Love is recommended;). Cheers Grant

Then the grading for the travertine pavers began…

Then paver installation began…

Paver installation was finally completed…

Then installation of equipment was next, obviously including electrical.
I have a VS pump for the waterfalls, a VS main pump, cartridge filter, heat pump/chiller unit, AOP sanitation unit, and lastly a chlorine injection unit. It’s all run by a Hayward automation unit that is programmable and controlled by an app on your phone, including the 5 LED lights that you can change colors (wife’s desire). We opted for an auto fill unit and an overflow with dedicated drain. So it’s going to run itself almost…lol. I just have to check water parameters and add chemicals as needed.

Then the plaster was added finally. We opted for the radiant fusion series pebble tech plaster that has aggregate, small colored glass beads and abalone shell mixed in. Long lasting and very durable!

This is the color we chose. It is acid washed after application and then after filling with water and scrubbing to remove the fine plaster dust, it will look like this.

And fill we did! After two days, it is above the second step…geez! Why did my wife want such a big pool! The water has algae and there’s nothing to do about it until it’s filled.

Today the water level was finally high enough to add some chemicals and start the waterfall pump to help mix it up. Also ran the main pump shortly to make sure it’s working properly. Then it was time to start scrubbing the walls and floor.
It should finish filling tonight. Tomorrow the pumps are going to be turned on and run up to about 75 gpm while I scrub and add any necessary chemicals. One day I will get to enjoy it! :p

Thanks! No tennis court…swimming laps will be adequate exercise for me! ;)
And I am putting boards on the NL… just more hull planking…

Nice "little" side project you've gotten yourself into...
At least you're probably in time for summer.

For sure there is nothing "little" about that pool! Looking good, my friend!

Hi Dean. That is a very nice project in your garden.:) The entire decoration looks beautifully cared for. And the waterfalls give it an extra dimension. You're going to enjoy this a lot.
And good to see/read that you still have some time to visit some build-log’s.
Regards, Peter

Thank you Peter! I’m just now trying to catch up on build logs, as I’ve been too busy to get online lately. I have however put a few boards on the NL. And she calls…
