October, 21st - The Main Event

I have a cold, I’m grumpy and miserable today and that’s probably affecting how I feel about all this. That’s not your fault @Artesania Latina.

However, your teaser advertising has really backfired in my case. I tried to join in with it all, to be excited for your new flagship whatever I might have been but you have really mishandled the reveal.

No announcement here? No link to your presentation?

EDIT
Please see my forgiveness post #69 below.

Another Victory yes, but this one is different from the rest. Artesania Latina already had this ship in its catalog and wants to continue having it, why not. It seems to me to be a much more interesting model than OcCre's. It would be nice to have the option without rigging, which focused only on the anatomy, as they already did with the Bounty. The price would be lower I guess. The display case would be much smaller, something to take into account.
Why not a fully rigged version with sails?

They put the video in the presentation thread.

I think that a model without rigging, masts and sails would be a good option. That focused on the “Anatomy” of the ship. A more “Academic” model, so to speak.
Anyway, I hope this is the last one. I think we all overdose on Victorys.

The link in the first post works.
They will present a new video later today.
In the AL shop I saw that you could split the payment into 3 or 4 parts.

Saw the video You can fast forward the first 17% (the first minute and twenty nine seconds) of the video as it has nothing to do with the ship or the kit so is a waste of time, but the balance is nicely filmed. There are things that look good and others that look awful. The burlap looking sails should be left off or replaced but there are things that are a big improvement over some other kits such as belaying pins that are to scale and cast guns that actually look like Blomefield pattern long guns and carronades that are well represented. The blocks look to be the same unrealistic pieces they have used in the past and should be replaced but the ship's boats look better than many others we often see. The frames on the ship's boats are oversized and too few in number but overall looks better than most. The tholes on two of the boats are in the wrong places but should be an easy fix for the kit builder. The inclusion of the many LED lights is a very nice addition. The gratings are laser cut and those that can be seen appear to be very good with the battens running fore and aft as they should, which is missed on some kits. The deck pattern is a four butt shift and they wisely left out trennals or deck spike covers which would be hard to keep subtle at this scale. The copper bottom material looks to be one of the best I have seen with nail dents instead of rivets. The standing rigging should be replaced as it appears to be pure black like it is coated in coal tar instead of dark brown as it was protected with pine tar. At this point I am sure AL can do this pretty easily.

Does the world need another Victory model? I imagine they did a lot of marketing research that pointed them in this direction before making a decision. Based on the video there appear to be some nice improvements in this kit over others. It is a shame they did not do a marketing survey with some of the ship model sites around the world such as SoS to get some input from would be buyers. I look forward to following a build log from any member that takes the plunge.

If you are now thinking about a Victory kit, you can wonder when/if Amati will come with one?
I find info about one in 1/64 scale and various comments about/when one could appear.

If i'm not mistaken i think the project canceled or on hold.

The Fall of Nelson perhaps.

Having just watched the latest video showing the included figures - "I told you so!"

@Artesania Latina , you have produced a wonderful model. At first I thought I thought the scale was too small for the details you promised but no, you you were right - it's all there. At first I thought how can they justify another Victory? But no, you've put so much extra into the interior that I now think this is the only Victory that I'd consider building. At first I thought that the simplified structure, framing and so on would devalue the kit but no, the additional human interest, for me, far outweighs that.

It seems to have everything needed while still providing scope for the dedicated super-detailer. The deckheads could be enhanced for example and there's room for tons more stores, equipment and micro-dioramas. The sails are a bit thick but what the heck, that's easily fixed.

A person with more staying power than I have could work on this model for years and years. It's magnificent. Well done AL!

I think this will find its way under many Christmas trees this year. I don't know how many you have manufactured but I predict they will all be sold by the end of the year, I hope most go to builders, but many will be banked by investors; a year after you sell out they will be on eBay for twice the price.

I am very tempted...
