Hi all and thanks. just a quick update as i suspect i will be distracted a little.
The final double hull walls added. Not there are no sizes for these provided, you have to guestimate based on the photos.
Hull capping added
Final rubbing stakes & hull strips completed
Bit rail commenced milled with ml70
A bit of vanity ( my ship, wagon & train builds.) The TRex is 3d printed.
Hmm the x carve build. ( That's a queen size bed. The MDF is 1.2 x 1.2)
This may take me a bit.
If anyone's interested and Donnie does not mind I'll do a build of it in the tools section.
Been awhile, got distracted for a few weeks and also had a break from the fiddley bits.
Anyway the new toy and the bow deck area have been completed.
Creating the BOW railing & bits
Adding the railing
Ships bell
Fitted Bell housing and bow captsan & mast housing
Cannons, Bits, Pin rails & grating going in
Cannons rigged
Cannon ball racks & additional Bits added
Bow sanding sealer added to bring out wood
Oh and Xcarve competed & calibrated much to the dismay of Admiral - It was the zooming & homing noise that for some reason kept being repeated! ;-) ZOOM ZOOM !
On wards we go. Oh the joys of bending Mahogany. The stern poop deck is now completed and the major railings added. Yea! 'NO MORE CANNONS' !
The kit called for 1.5 x 4 mm walnut, but they did not supply enough for both port & starboard rails. However I did have lots of Mahogany left from the hull, so mahogany rails it was.
The only problem was the tight 45d bends over a short span. Boiling water and lots of yelling fixed it ( after a few or so broke).
Now on to the steps & rubbing stakes.
Poop deck waterways added
Main Deck to poop stairway railings added
Poop deck fit out
skylight & pin rails added
Flag boxes added
Completed
Stern railing added
Side railings added
Tks all, she is a test of will!. The bigger the AL kit the bigger the challenges. Still stiff upper lip, carry on what what. There no NO cannibalism in the British navy.
"As a naval officer I abhor the implication that the Royal Navy is a haven for cannibalism. It is well known that we have the problem relatively under control, and that it is the R.A.F. who now suffer the largest casualties in this area. And what do you think the Argylls ate in Aden? Arabs? Yours etc. Captain B.J. Smethwick in a white wine sauce with shallots, mushrooms and garlic."
