The ALFRED 74. [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hi gang,
got a nice parcel in the mail today from Dave Stevens of the lumberyard.
Its natural cherry planking cut to my requirements for the deck planking on my H.M.S Alfred model. I want to thank the lumberyard for their superb milling and quality timber.
It looks like there's more planking in my parcel than I ordered and thats fabulous service.

My messy workshop photos of the model. I cut the frames from MDF and used balsa wood filler in between the frames to get the hull profile.

The pink and yellow colour on the model are fibreglass filler and primer. I will paint the lower hull in white.

Hi Brian
You do some lovely work and I just wanted to say I am using MDF board for my keel and bulkheads on my new adventure the SS Great Britain, I find it does not warp or twist, easily sanded, no glue in it and pretty strong. I also like to use 4mm x 1.5mm lime strip for basic first blanking, it bends, sands, cuts easily. It's also good to get a hull shape using a gentle plank bender.

Hi friends,

just received in the mail today some ship model parts from Kris at Szputnik models in Poland.

We have multiple packets of 3D printed resin cannon barrels in 3 different sizes with wooden cannon carriage kits. All perfectly machined without laser char.
I am very impressed with the quality. Also included is decorative scrollwork which I will paint gold.

I am looking forward to see the carriages with the muzzles

Beautiful build. I will be interested to see how you modify the figures when you get to that point.
Hi Brian--3D resin figurines of Vikings-->being a full-blooded Norwegian I can appreciate it. I wish I had your talent to modify existing figurines. I assume that you are able to carve figurines from scratch--how I envy you. If my very soul were hanging in the balance, I wouldn't be able to do that.

Hi gang,

its been awhile since I updated my build log. I have been planking my decking of H.M.S Alfred with some fabulous natural pearwood timber which I purchased from Dave Stevens of the Lumberyard. Dave milled the planking to my requirements of 4 mm x 1.5 mm and there were no issues with Australian customs inspection importing the timber into Australia.
Photos below is the decking with 2 coats of oil based satin polyurethane varnish.

The model is large at 1/64 scale and measures 38 inches from stem to stern and I have difficulty photographing it clearly.

Anyway, will post some more photos soon. Thank you.
