Rudder. Repeat again - stem, sternpost and rudder should have taper. For the stem I didn't do it, because the figurehead that is in the kit has a slot for untapered stem. If I have tapered it, I would have had to fill the gaps or make a new lion. So I kept the stem as it was.
For the sternpost and rudder, they are given in 7 mm thickness. As per drawings, this is their thickness on the bottom, but they should become wider on top, up to 9 or 10 or 11 mm I don't remember exactly. So you would need to make these parts form scratch, from a thicker billet. Me I just tapered a little the rudder blade to make it more pleasant to the eye.

Before putting the upper decks, I mounted the cannons that are right below them. These cannons are unrigged. I will rig only those that are visible (12 on the upper deck and 8 on the quarter deck).

Thanks a lot Jim and Uwe! For the guns, well nothing special, white spirit, then BlackenIt, rinse with water and dry. Actually on the opposite, I still can't get the good quality of blackening, whatever technics I try, it chips off very easilly on the small parts. On the cannons I'm lucky - it stays, but for some reason sometimes they arrive mat, sometimes glossy...

Hi guys, a small offtopic question. How to understand scale on the archive drawings? I have a drawing of british ship, that has frames stations named 1,4,7,10,13 and so on up to 30. There is no other indication about scale or dimensions. Are those jards? They are numbered from the midsection, and ship keel length is about 142 feet. Looks close...
