USS Constitution - Model Shipways

I decided to add angle brackets to the channels as shown below. I don't know what they are called but I decided to call them angle brackets. Also, I don't see them shown anywhere in the plans, but all the other ships I built had them, so here we are.

well. i have finished installing the channels. now I am working on the chainplates. I have to first learn how to solder properly as this is a soldering job: as per Lauch Street Shipyard's instructions. I have tried one and it's not easy. the solder that I have has a rosen core, so it should stick, but it doesn't. It makes a mess instead. I don't want to heat the deadeye too much as I am afraid it could melt. So I will have to experiment in order to get the same results as what is shown in the practicum. I would show one of mine instead, but it came apart when I was cleaning off some of the solder. lol

Yep, I’m not a good solder soldier either. I remember soldering wires on 2 mm lights for my Black Pearl. I kept losing the lights and the solder wouldn’t take so I wound up buying already soldered ones from Evans. Don’t you have to do something to the brass before it takes solder?

Sounds like the wire you’re using may be coated to keep it shiny. You might try rubbing it down well with steel wool or fine grit sandpaper.
