Vasa - 1:65 DeAgostini [COMPLETED BUILD]

So, here's my completed stand for the ship. It is made entirely of cherry and stained a color that closely matches the deck of the ship. I believe the color also complements the color of the lions that festoon the gun port covers. I don't ordinarily like lighter stains on wood, but I did not like my trials with darker stains - and medium stains just battled with the tone of the hull.

It's an admittedly simple stand. I imagined all manner of fancy things I might add - but in the end I decided that the ship is fancy enough so building a stand that might compete with the ship (or worse, distract from it) seemed unwise.

Stepping away from rigging was good for me. Thanks for stopping by.

Grant, tacks and sheets on the course sails are pretty robust. At my scale (1:64) the sheet is 0.6 and the tack is 0.8 (same as the shroud).
Good morning Paul. Yes of course these are large lines. I had a couple of brain fades this weekend including getting lost in a very isolated mountain range on my Husky - all ended wello_O. On my Victory at 1:78 scale the tack is 0.75. Non the less you got the sag of these just outstanding. Cheers Grant

What more can be said Paul? "Wow, Just Wow. A simple plain cradle, like a little Atlas holding up a Stupendous Colossus. Awesome.

A beautiful stand with beautiful complementary colors of wood, Paul.
And not a woodworker ……….. show us a different stand in cardboard .….. or whatever you are good in. ;)
