Now that's looking great!
Too bad I'm now fully committed to a completely scratch build deck...
Although, I'm learning an awful lot, building my own decks instead of using what's in the kit.
And, an added bonus, I'll now be able to make the various holes in the deck planks match the openings n the deck beams.

First deck planks are in, clean-up still required.

Good morning Johan. I had to play catch up and
Some catch up it is! Wow, your painting trials and tribulations. That was an incredible “save” Johan. The hull, it’s colour , the waterline and semigloss varnish to finish looks really awesome. No way did I think you would get that redo so lovely. That must be the redo of the year so far.

Your pear made nibble planks - well you owned that!

Cheers Grant

It’s looking nice, Johan. When you have layed the first rows in the correct line, then the rest will follow.
A tip: Lay out as much in length of the center planks as possible. It provides the most control and is also the eye-catcher for the ‘straight planking’.
Regards, Peter

Thanks Grant,
Indeed, the paint job was definitely a royal pain. At one point I even considered throwing the towel into the ring and to order a new kit.
I'm truly happy with the final result!

Thanks Peter,
The port side of the forward deck is now complete, in the sense all planks are installed. A major job, that's for sure.
That centerline plank; I used CL markings in the deck beams to align the center plank. For the aft deck I'm going to look into your tip, especially all the apertures, sitting on the centerline need some thought.

Today saw quite a bit of activity on laying the port fwd deck. The day before yesterday the Admiral got diagnosed having contracted covid again. Luckily my test turned out negative, but the Admiral is confined to her room. She's not too sick, but she's extremely tired and sleeps a lot.
In all it gives me ample time to do a little building.
Right now the port fwd deck has all planks laid down. The copied nibble plank wasn't an as good idea I thought it would be; a lot of in situ modifications were required.
I now have to seriously reconsider the geometry of the nibble plank of the aft deck.

Top view, still need to add some planks on the starboard side to have the same interface surfaces for all deck mounted stuff.

Hopefully your Admiral will recover soon, Johan.
The deckplanks are in a nice pattern.
Regards, Peter

As I mentioned to Paul; luckily Ellen is improving. Hopefully she'll be able to venture outside coming Saturday.

With regard to the deck planks, I found myself sandwiched between two evils. The original deck parts weren't fitting properly and by scratch building the decks myself I found I was way out of my league. Especially the nibble plank gave me issues.

It's coming along very nicely Johan, and I hope your better half shakes off the lurgies soon and recovers well.

Thanks Mark, the Admiral is doing better, but she's exhausted by just taking a shower.
And the time thingy? Well, I don't consider it good manners to lock myself away for prolonged periods of time, plus we normally (daily) spend quite a bit of time on our bikes.

Hello Shota,
Thanks for you well wishes, Ellen is recovering, slowly but surely. Definitely nothing we both ed two and a half years ago.
Also thanks for your compliments.
There's more to those deck planks than I initially thought, having laid quite a number of laminate floors...ROTF
Kind regards,

Johan

Thanks a lot, Grant,
The starboard side wil at least partially left open. The only issue is that for all the deck equipment, like winches, hatches, etc, I want to have a level interface surface, which means I will add some planking, but not more than necessary.
Regards,
Johan

Ahh that makes sense Johan. I know the bow of the BN is full of equipment with that winch mechanism etc. Does make for stunning display. It is a busy fore deck. If you can manage some openness to the the ribs it will be cool. Cheers Grant.
