ZHL Black Pearl 2019 Golden Edition-Newbie build [COMPLETED BUILD]

Absolutely wonderful to see you almost at the finish line Reggie. I like the look of the furled sails and I agree that do offer one a better view of all the other ancillaries on the deck. Well done! Thumbsup

Thanks much @Heinrich.... It has been a wonderful learning experience for me. Credit to ZHL for a great kit and to our friends in this forum for backstopping me when I needed help. I will start my 1:50 Royal Caroline after I finish the Pearl. I feel like a child on Christmas morning, eager to play with my new toy. Keep safe my friend.

FINISHED!!!
Eight months after I embarked on this new hobby, I am very proud, and quite a bit relieved, to call my build of the ZHL Black Pearl 2019 Golden Edition officially COMPLETED.

When I started, I never imagined I will get this far with the project. As I mentioned at the start of this build log, I truly came from a zero knowledge and skills base. But with a lot of help and encouragement from our friends in this forum, a lot of reading and hours of youtube videos, I was able to navigate my way thru this build.

What I have here is nowhere near perfect and I am sure I didn't do a lot of things the proper way. But, that is precisely why I chose this model kit. The Black Pearl being a mythical ship, it allows me certain liberties to interpret various aspects of the build according to my preferences and skill sets. This was a wonderful kit for novices like me... challenging enough but yet easy enough so as not to frustrate me. Kudos to ZHL for producing this great kit. For sure, an excellent value for your money.

I really enjoyed this journey. Learned a lot about patience, persistence, problem solving, humility and most of all the willingness to ask for help when necessary.

My hope is that this build log can offer a bit of encouragement to other novices and to reassure them that this hobby is not as overwhelming as it might initially seem.

Here are some pictures that I share with you very proudly.

Topping off the ship with the golden figurehead.

I thought I would take her out to the sun and give her a proper pictorial.

Thanks for sharing, Reggie! I’ve enjoyed the build and the christening.

Thanks for sharing your build of the Black Pearl. You have inspired me to acquire and build this one as well. It is currently sitting under my workbench waiting for the completion of my current build (in a couple of weeks or so). I am quite certain that I will be referring to your build log throughout the construction of my version of the Pearl. I look forward to watching your next build as well.

Thanks for the kind words @Jeff T .... will follow you BP build when you get started. Happy modeling.

Dear WarrLight
I must admit that your high quality work has achieved a spectacular result and that the ship has been amazingly beautiful.

I don’t know why I haven’t been getting updates on your build, maybe something on my end. Reggie, your Pearl looks fantastic. I went back and started from your first post to the end. A most delightful journey. Can’t wait to see you start your next build.

It's been a fantastic journey @Jay ... it all started with me being inspired by your BP builds, together with @epicdoom and @Hoffy. Many thanks.
