USS BONHOMME RICHARD - POF - Cross Section in Cherry - 1:48 - by neptune,

Hallo John,
are your twin-sections on-hold in moment?
Would like to see some more progress, so I could spy a little bit of the different working steps

Uwe made this comment on Oldpaperones Bonne Homme Richard cross section,

hmmmm .... I have to go back also to my section......

And I thought the same I had to do some more on my twins as Jimsky Uwe calls them, so I have started
doing a little bit more as a bit of a break from the Royal William,

This is how they are at the moment,

This is the No 1 deck, i just had to drill the holes for the gun tackles in the bulwarks, which you can just see, and
also I drilled and attached the eye bolts and rings, just a little bit of planking to go on both ends of this deck
and also the bitts,

close up of the ring bolts, they just need a final squeeze together,

I managed to do a bit more and fixed the support knee's under the top deck, just have to paint them yet,

and a close up view,

I also cut and attached the gangways to both models, the steps are not yet glued, still need a bit of sanding,

367.jpg
so the present state of both sections,

368.jpg
and the pin rails for the base of the masts, still a lots of cleaning up to be done,

These are the parts supplied in the kit for the belfry rails, they are laser etched cherry wood,

370.jpg
I bought the upgrade and these are CNC carved Pear wood, with the upgrade you also get the top and bottom
rails for the stanchions to go through, in the kit you have to glue the laser etched front to the stanchions,

371.jpg
so the two darker pieces are the Cherry Wood laser etched pieces from the kit and the two lighter
pieces are the carved Pear Wood pieces from the upgrade,

372.jpg
A closer look, X is the carved Pear Wood, Y is the carved Cherry Wood and the one in the middle is the Laser
etched one from the kit,

Just assembled not yet glued, working out the shape to fit the deck camber etc,
