Kit review BLUENOSE SCHOONER POF MODEL -1:72 – YuanQing Models

大家好 感谢您对我们套件的高度评价。至于后端徽标的问题,我在论坛上看到了有关此徽标的讨论,然后想到了一些解决方案。我们将尝试一下,并在稍后显示效果。可能要花几天时间,因为我必须进行实验

Translation:

"Hello and thank you for your high evaluation of our kit. As for the back-end logo, I saw a discussion about it on the forum and came up with some solutions. We'll try it out and show it later. It may take a few days because I have to experiment"

Some observations regarding what is shown on MS2130 Sheet 5 - Rigging Profile (which also has plans for the sails) and what I can see in the rigging (only) plan of the offered kit:
MS - for fishing only there are the two tackles and hooks P&S for dory launch/recovery, one from the foremast and the other from the main.
MS - for racing Staysail halliard top of main mast but that is not clear whether on kit or not but possibly. In racing the staysail was lowered to the deck changed tack side PorS and raised with the tack.
MS - for racing there was a topping lift pennant PorS from the main mast
MS - for racing top main mast flying backstay P&S
There may be other minor differences but I think that the kit presents a racing scheme. Also that when racing the number of dories would likely have been brought down to some minimum if any at all. I think that one movie clip when racing shows at least one starboard dory but farther forward than where I think it would be located for fishing.

One observation is that the very narrow transom space between the main and monkey rails for name/logo will be a real challenge. MS2130 does show an alternative which this said to be seen in some photos (not by me so far) of a larger name and Lunenberg N.S. on the transom oval face itself which simplifies the problem but I would like to see evidence before accepting.

@PT-2 That larger name on the transom oval with the letters NS added, I could only find on Bluenose II. Picture courtesy of Halifaxphoto. Yes - I did mention, as did David Lester, that the name will be very small if applied where it is historically correct.

Another great unknown and unknowable is what the arrangement were below the upper decks. No drawings were done on any of the schooners built at that time and only the hull from the half-model scantlings. Bluenose II is a modern day commercial venture for paying guests/crew as much as a replication. Thanks for reminding me of alternative means of research. Rich

Dear Friends. Just to summarize what is happening at the moment so that you are all kept to date. The stern decoration issue has been communicated to YuanQing and they are working on that. Obviously, first prize would be to complete that before dispatching the kit. Whilst they are working on that, I am busy getting quotes for the shipping. So, I am very busy on this side with Bluenose to make sure that your experience with this kit is as pleasurable as possible.:)

Thank you for your work. I have found a way, using a decal with matt finish and overcoat to "hide the edges' on the narrow plank between the main and monkey board rails. . . at least the name.
Using Word with the Goudy Old Style font size five or four, and either All caps or Small caps, I can type out the name with one space between each letter which looks correct. I have not solved how to place the Masonic or IOOF links in the middle of that but think that it could be done in three pieces: BLUENOSE. .. logo. . . Lunenberg N. S.
It may be noted that in the photos on both the bow and stern there were small floral or vine work before and after the name on the bow, which was carved in and not on a board, and a floral decoration before the name, probably also at the end although I have not found that photo yet.
I'll have to keep working on how to insert the very small logo with the assistance of lodge brethren who are more skilled in this task than I am. Rich

@PT-2 Thank you so much, Rich. Thumbsup It just adds to the build and the overall excitement levels. As to the work - luckily I have learned early in life that hard work is the only way to have a chance of success.:)
When I work on my projects I listen to a local university classical music station without any commercials. Last night a very talented violinist commented that it is 10% talent and 90 % work. That philosophy and dedication carries across many venues. Rich

I don't know if this link will work right off but if not you may be able to Google it up. The offering is not in the ballad but starting around 1:30 in there is an excellent bow name with Walters.

@PT-2 Rich, unfortunately Google and YouTube are no-no's in China. I do not use a VPN so I do not have access to those. Maybe you can take a screenshot for me, but I am sure our other members will appreciate the video.
