PAYMENT AND ORDERING

@flyboy441 Hello Keith. This might very well be because UPS has had to pick up the backlog from the other companies.

I checked the status of my kit today. On Tuesday it was scheduled to be here Friday. I checked UPS today and this is the message it is showing

In Transit

Package is delayed in transit. Delivery will be rescheduled. Check back or signup for UPS My Choice® to receive updates.

So it looks like UPS is also delaying packages to Canada
Hello Flyboy 441, I got the same message, I figured it was stuck in customs but it was delivered the next day in great shape.
Regards Lawrence

Great now I am going to be staring out the window all day tomorrow looking for the truck lol. I assume you got the phone call first about the payment for duties and brokerage fees?
Hello Keith , Yes you are correct on that, I got an e-mail message, for me the Duty and Taxes came to only $24.32, I paid this on line, and figured that I got a bargain from our government.
Regards Lawrence

ANNOUNCEMENT Exclamation-Mark

As you will have noticed, we have had delays with the delivery of some kits in Canada. First, we were told that FedEx cannot deliver within the specified time during the Christmas period. UPS graciously stepped in to cover the FedEx backlog but it seems as if their operations are - "unorganized" - or so it certainly seems. This morning Xiuli had an urgent meeting with the International Freight Forwarding Agency in an attempt to find clarification on the matter.

The outcome is as follows: Both UPS and TNT are the two companies most suitable for delivery to China. UPS - it seems - rely largely on sub-contractors to handle their local distribution inside the borders of Canada, whereas TNT 's local distribution is handled by the "Federal" (not sure if this is the correct terminology) Government. It may take a day or so longer, but we were guaranteed efficiency. Therefore, we made the call to send out the next kit (to be shipped today) to Canada via TNT. We will obviously monitor and provide feedback.

And now for Great News for two very special SOS Members!

@Dean62 I am really excited to announce that Bluenose #18 is going to Dean. Do yourself a favour and scroll to the Wood Kits section and have a look at his Cazador Xebec. Not only is he exhibiting excellent woodworking skills, but he also brings an understated artistic elegance to his work. I can't wait to see his rendition of No #18.

@DonRobinson Good heavens Don! You will have the most travelled Bluenose in the world! Clearly, UPS's left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. As some consolation - according to the rules of the Fisherman's Cup Racing, any would-be competitor had to be a fishing vessel proper before it would be allowed entry. The original Bluenose thus had to complete one whole season of cod-fishing before she could race. Yours is now doing her compulsory fishing season it seems. A little something to ease the pain ... #02 was featured on the most beautiful Bluenose painting of them all (to me). This is from her first cup win in 1921 beating the American schooner, Elsie.

@DonRobinson Don you can just right-click on the picture and download it to your PC. That is what I did. I'm still at work so I don't have my "Bluenose laptop" with me. there is also another picture of her carrying #02 on her sails that I will find for you.

Thank you so much for the kind words Heinrich, this is great news! Bluenose on the way!!!
The work on my Cazador will slow down some, as I will go back and forth on each ship. However it will keep my enthusiasm level high for each as well. Get bored or stuck on one, go to the other...lol. I see a lot of people on SOS building more than one ship at a time, yourself included. So I will join the multiple build club... ;)

Darn! I was hoping you were going to build the San Felipe you bought next... As you know, I have been on the fence about that kit for quite some time now and was hoping that your build might settle a few reservations I have before purchasing. But I am anxious to start on my Blunose as well so I get where you are coming from.... I am going to upgrade some of the wood selection in the kit and use some Pear, Boxwood and Redheart etc. to jazz it up a bit.... going to be loads of fun!!

Well...the YQ San Felipe is a great kit, and can be built as nice as you are capable of doing it.
I did not have time for a review yet, but I believe there is a review already here on SOS.
The quality of wood and fittings, etc., is very good...and I feel it is a bargain for the price! You get two full large boxes for the San Felipe at a cost less than half of other kits. But it has no sails, so plan on building without or know you have to purchase or make your own.kit-YQ.jpg

Mine arrived late Thursday in great condition .
Although I opened it and poked around, I didn't have time to really look at it yet.
I'm trying to get my current build to a stable point before starting Bluenose and the Holidays aren't helping.

Dave

Hi Dave

It appears you got my kit #9. Yours was lucky #8. I wonder if will get that one

Keith

@Davefx35 @flyboy441

Hi Dave and Keith - Oops RedfaceRedfaceRedfaceRedface:eek::eek::eek: Our mistake - it appears that the two letters were swapped at the factory! APOLOGIES Gents!

I will PM you the correct letters! The serial number on the kit does not change. Dave's kit is #008 and Keith's is #009!

Once again my apologies for this slip up!

Heinrich
