Kit review Hayling (1760) - POF in scale 1:48 by Modelship Dockyard

Thanks very much to both of you for responding so quickly, When building the cradle the written instructions say "Place A8 in the bow direction, and put A9 in the bow direction." They can't both be true. But the pictures show A9 in the stern which is what I did. My sides are oriented as both of you suggest (you couldn't see them in the pix). I think of the A2 sides as having a bigger "window" in the stern and a smaller one in the bow. I have the bigger window in the stern so the sides are oriented as you both suggest. Pieces A4 and A5 are different lengths. A5 pieces fit fine in the stern where A4 would not if I had things reversed. Only A4 pieces do not fit properly in the bow. If I've made a mistake I'd try to buy another set of the plywood pieces that make the cradle. If the kit is wrong I'll build the keel and see if "fixing" A4 one way or the other will be a solution. Has either of you made a cradle? If so then I must have done something wrong and not the kit.

My wife found the problem. The two pieces labeled A3 look alike and are labeled the same (both say A3). But one of them is higher than the other and I have them reversed. Before trying to disassemble the glued pieces I'd rather buy another set of plywood pieces. Do you have a way of contacting the kit maker directly?

Hi you could cut the taller of the A3 off, and continue the build, it won't affect much
 
VAN A SUGESTION AS TO UNGLUEING PARTS I HAVE USED THIS METHOD FOR YEARS, YEARS AND IT WORKS IT WILL UNGLUE PVA OR CA WITH NO DAMAQGE WHAT I DO IS USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER IT HAS TO BE 100% ACOTONE THEN BRUSH IT ON THE JOINTS ALL JOINTS SLOWLY CAREFULLY PRY IT APART YOU MAY HAVE TO BRUSH IT ON A COUPLE OF TIMES IT WILL COME APART HAVE DONE IT MORE TIMES THEN I WANT TO. Wow! Great review, @Jimsky! I am particularly impressed with the quality and finish of the sails. They are detailed well beyond any kit sails I've ever seen before. This certainly looks like one kit to add to my wishlist, along with the YQ Bluenose. I've never built a POF kit but these two certainly look like good places to start!

I run into the very same mistake: no warries, just cut off the upper A3 extremity as much as required to allow A4 board matatching properly with A2 joints
