Ok for Kurt I thought I had better post some Bounty work.
There are so many Bounty builds and each are so different. Harold Hanns 1:48 POF is the best I have found although I think he took many liberties on accuracy. To standardise my scratch work I found some plans which I believe are fairly accurate and have decided to build my Shipon these….from now on. The original build plans (Billings) are way out. Like upside down out .
Unfortunately I am unable to remedy the forecastle so it will remain “upside down” out.
Hatches, gratings and cabin. We all know the bounty had 2 large gratings on the quarter deck to facilitate the botany trays beneath. I used left over Xebec grating for these.
The hatches each had stairs going down and some small windows. I rescaled these and using my homemade wood gave it a go: (The frames of the gratings, hatches and cabin are solid walnut cut from a 10x10 piece of African walnut).

After- still some finishing to do
Total cost : R 0.00.

PS : the original build had plenty symmetry issues and I have attempted to create an illusion of symmetry. I see them clearly, however when I asked my family to show me the major flaws no one picked it up…..they did point out a myriad of my skill failures though.

I have no concerns going forward - I see the bubble wrap is back so now everything will be fine...
Neat, do the research first then adapt material to replicate the deck structures. Still zero investment??

Good evening Paul…I’m not so sure about that. I doubt even bubble wrap will assist me on this quest. It does let me pop bubbles when I am stumped, which is becoming a regular occurrence. Cheers Grant
Good evening Jan. So far. The laminated veneer I have made for wood is doing ok. My little Chinese table saw cuts the walnut piece of wood into small strakes ok as well although it is not very accurate. E.g 3mm is sometimes 3.1 or 3.2mm so can cause some symmetry issues. I am needing a new blade now. I doubt I will be able to carry on with zero cost when it comes to rigging…..I don’t think I have the correct rope size or blocks. A low way off.

The treenailing looks .....pop..... looks very nice.
Yes, here also .....pop.... some bubble plastic. Our new kitten .....pop..... is playing beside me .....pop..... and has found the bubbles.

Upper, lower cheeks and Hawes holes: Cut out from my laminate walnut veneer wood and shaped with dremel. The upper cheek I had to make in two parts as this laminate has no bending properties. I scraped a pattern into them (does not work to well) and ran a pencil in it to give it a resemblance of definition.
Catheads: More Laminated wood. Cut some sheaves and covered with a cap. A metal support covers the cap line.
Before and during : I made sure a 0.6mm rope fits.

Symmetry: I thought I was clever when creating illustrations of symmetry
when doing the hull, rails etc. Note to self, nothing can fix symmetry- One correction just creates more issues else where - I just have to choose the lesser evil.
