HMS Victory 1:72 - Caldercraft by Gilbertm

Hello friends
After a couple of weeks of work, I am making steady progress on the hull second planking..
I believe I am approximately half way thru.
Caldercraft documentation recommends to use medium CA to glue the walnut planks. I did not like that approach too much as it tends to leave dark spots on the planks. I used wood white glue instead (Weld bond glue).
Below some pictures of the hull as it stands today.

Some thourough sanding is needed but I'll work on that a bit later.

In parallel I have adjusted the height and width of the cannon ports in order to match with the Caldercraft plan. Still some work to be done here but I'll be completing this at the same time as I complete the second planking.

Cheers
You can be proud of your work on this one. The site can always use another beautiful Victory.
Happy modeling

Hello Gilbert,
You’ve made good progress. But I also see that you have ended some planks in the middle of the hull with a zero width. That’s not the intention with this type of ship. The minimum width at the end of a plank should be half a plank’s width. In this case, you need to work with stealers. Have a look at my Dutch build log: https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/hms-victory-van-caldercraft-door-wil.281364/page-7 or my log on SOS: https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/hms-victory-of-caldercraft-by-wil.16072/page-2

Are you going to copper the entire hull? If that’s your plan, then this deviation isn’t a big problem, because you won’t see any of it later.
