Soleil Royal ZHL kit 1:90 Scale [COMPLETED BUILD]

Super smooth planking m8! Keep it up. Is this a good kit with wood and carvings? Have to use lot of my own wood because of bad quality or not enough wood from the kit. Also plastic carvings break easy when i get them out the sealed plastic. Wanted to by your kits next but have to think about it now
Hey Pat, this kit is probably similar to yours. It's a good kit at this price point but I would save someBanknote-USD for the more expensive kits.

Nice planking Mike, you clearly see that you take your time to do it right, I know it's a repetition what other colegas say, but if it's right, one has to say
Greetings
willy
Hi Willy,
Thank you for stopping in and the compliment.

Outstanding Planking. All I can say is that I wish my planking would turn out like this. I have never got the hang of it yet. Fantastic Mike !!!

Thanks Donnie appreciate the kind words. You do pretty darn good work hope this build turns out as well as your San Felipe.

Does this kit differ greatly from the Sergal version? I find Sergal kits supply a great amount of timber.

Cheers

Hi Jim. You can contact him on the ZHL web site. www.modelshipbuilder.com. I believe he is a member of the forum also now. I purchased my kit off eBay. I was hesitant of ordering direct so I spent a little more for shipping going eBay but next kit I would buy direct. From time of my order to delivery was 9 days which I thought was pretty good.

Hi Vossy, I believe the kits are very similar. I think the Sergal version you need to cut out the gunports as the ZHL version has pre cut and placed ports on ply. The stern construction is a little different. I believe the Sergal version wins hands down on the decorations, ZHL's need painted and seem a little thick. As for the timber it is well supplied but the planking for the first layer had quite a few miss cut pieces which left me short. The rigging seems to be very similar. The plans are ok but the instructions are confusing. The instructions are combined between the older version and the new version which lead to the confusion.
